What are your financial arrangements in relationships when you live together?
Ever since my first apartment, I always thought it was normal to go half on rent and split up the minor minor bills. I hear alot of men saying they pay all the bills.. and their wives or spouse Uses their money towards groceries and kids.

Y'all just gonna have to talk that out and find what works for you. We have a joint account for groceries and bills then we each have our own spending money. You basically have to build a budget and see what makes sense for you and your partner.

My fiancé and I have a joint account where we each put the same amount in every month (not our full paychecks). It covers rent, bills, groceries, meals out, and soon-to-be baby. It's not sexy, but it works for us. Our salaries are close enough so it's fair.
The man paying the monthly bills while the woman pays for all the groceries and kid stuff seems like the woman would end up paying way more!

We're married now but when we lived together, we split things commensurate with our salary percentages. So if one person made 60% of the joint income and the other made 40%, that is when we paid toward all shared bills including rent, groceries, etc.

When I was married. My husband paid all of the bills, rent, car notes, insurance and groceries. I was a house/travel wife. He said it cost more to send me to work than just for me to stay home because my job was a hobby not a career.

My husband and I each keep an “allowance” of the same amount and put everything else we make into our joint account that covers everything for us and our kids. Allowance covers little things that we personally want and then we use our joint for household purchases, etc

My fiancé pays the mortgage I pay utilities except internet and we split groceries

My husband pays for everything. My salary is there in case we need for something urgent .

It's whatever works for the couple and what feels fair. We combine our salaries in the joint account and anything we need or to top up savings goes out of there. Then we get spending money into our private accounts to spend as we wish.

We’re married and have a joint account. Since my husband works and I’m a SAHM, technically it’s “his” salary that pays for our bills, but we don’t think of it as only “his” money because we’re a team. If you both work full time, I could see either having a joint account OR splitting expenses from separate accounts, whatever works best for you.
If I wasn’t married to a partner, I don’t think I would have a joint account though. There aren’t the same legal protections if you split up as there are if a married couple divorces.

When my husband and I made similar amounts we contributed somewhat equally but now he is making like 5-8x my salary he just pays for everything but it really just depends. If he ever lost his job I would step up and pay for everything. It’s a partnership

We have a joint account and pay everything out of there.

We split proportionally

We divide things equitably. He makes a lot more, so he pays for a lot more. I pay less because I make less. We have a joint account.

Do what’s best for you but ever since me and husband moved in we haven’t split them we’ve just paid it with both our money and what ever we have left we use eachothers card. Been together 8 years and only married for 2. Xx

Before our baby I contributed to some of the bills, restaurants and food was on my husband. My salary was mine his was ours ) since our baby was born we decided not to put her to nursery and I sacrificed to become a SAHM until she is 3 and my husband pays for everything and I use his card as much as I need.

Every relationship is different... in mine, we ONLY have joint accounts. All money goes into an account, and all bills and expenses come out of that account.
We have automated transfers into our budgeting accounts, and we prioritize our wants together that come out of our wishlist budget.
This works for us cause we just don't want to think about it, and legally we are entitled to half of everything the other person has, so meh.
There was a long time of him being the sole income while I was popping out babies and getting degrees, but now I'm the breadwinner. So it evens out in our opinion.

Married for almost 5 years. Everything is shared. Bills are covered and then if someone wants to spend additionnal money either we make sure it's OK or if it's a large purchase we discuss it with the other. Been working perfectly fine for like 9 years like this. My husband does make about 40k more so his paycheck in there covers more of our monthly so oftenntime my salary serves for the additional stuff!

We have had a joint account since 2012. We don’t see anything as his or mine and we just discuss major purchases prior to spending. Making sure personal spending is equal takes a lot of commutation so I can see it not being for everyone but it works for us. Money has never been a topic we argue about even during our financial ups and downs. Just gotta find hat works for your relationship

So i have all utlities and personal bills (phone and car) come out of my account and the mortgage and insurances come out of his. It works out he pays slightlt more than me but we didnt do it like that on purpose. utility accounts were all in my name/bank before we got together so was just easier to keep it all the same when we bought our house.
Finances are not an issue in our relationship, we share our money. If i need extra he gives it and vice versa 😊
We do have a joint account for bills but have never bothered to transfer everything over 😅

House we live in is mine, and nothing to do with my partner, and never will be… (we plan on buying somewhere together in 2-3 years - I’m not just being harsh when I say the house is nothing to do with him. 😂) so he essentially pays “rent” - he has a set amount that’s transferred to my account per week, and it covers 50% of all bills / outgoings.

Hubs pays for everything. I make sure we don't live in filth. Works for us!

same xD

we split 50/50, though I often feel like Im being cheated since I do 100% of the childcare and only work part-time remote since having the baby (I was always full-time before). it has become a point of contention in my relationship for sure.. I think 70/30 would be more fair. my husband is a cheapskate tho so when Ive brought this up to him, he just brushes it off. 🙃

does that cause any issues in the relationship?

personally for us no, as he knew when we got together and subsequently he then moved in that the house was mine, and his name would never be introduced to the mortgage. He’s happy enough contributing per week, and knowing that eventually the house I have will be sold to allow for us to have something together. That’s what is the motivator for us both x

We both work full time and have 3 joint accounts. One for bills, one for everything else, and a savings. We share money, make a household budget, and share what's leftover on the home/family. We give ourselves a spending "allowance" to buy whatever we want each month.
