What are like foods I can be feeding my baby? I just feel like everything I make ends up smashed and on the floor. I honestly don’t have the best routine of doing solids but I’m trying to start now… he has tried eggs a couple times and both times he broke out in hives so I’m pretty sure he has a egg allergy. I guess the reason I haven’t done solids is much is because I’m scared he’s gonna choke and I know it’s dumb but I don’t know what to do if he does choke..(please don’t come at me or judge me) so I guess another question is how can I stop having the fear everything that goes in his mouth he’s gonna choke on? like it’s almost a severe anxiety of mine and I don’t know why… he will be 8 months on the 14th

I honestly just started off with pasta salad they were really tiny noodles had my phone next to me just in case. I had the worst anxiety doing solids but he’s great with them now. There’s also an app I’ve been told about it’s something solids I think, I didn’t use it but you can try that, it’s called solid starts. Just trust you gut on what you wanna give him, always trust yourself and remember there’s a difference between gagging and choking! You got this mama!!

For me starting off with purees helped me get more comfortable with it and gradually adding slightly thicker foods and textures. As long as you’re keeping your eyes on them while they’re eating it I’m sure they’ll be fine , you got this girl 👍🏽

I second solidstarts.com! It gives great examples of how the baby can eat different kinds of foods and discusses some allergen foods. I think they talk about chocking, too. Gagging will definitely happen as they learn and it can be scary, but understanding when they are actually choking is important. Check with your pediatrician for tips, too.
Thanks everyone! I’ll definitely check out the site you all recommended! 😊

I think the first things I did other than purées was my adult oatmeal (she wants to eat what I eat), pearled couscous, and banana cut into the tiniest of pieces. Then banana with small amounts of peanut butter.
It is scary but their gag reflex is more forward in the mouth when young and gagging helps to prevent actual choking.
I’ve also learned allergens are better introduced young. Some babies will be allergic no matter what, but some of it is due to food not being introduced until later in life. I was still so nervous though!
And if yours has an egg allergy you could always have allergy testing for other things.
My neighbor just had a professional over teaching CPR to anyone interested. It was hard to see those little baby mannequin but I’m so glad I did it!
