At my 28w midwife appointment i told my midwife that i wanted elective c-section. She told me the consultant would get in touch with me to discuss it and all the risks etc.

Instead i got a call from mental health midwife who wanted to talk to me about my anxiety around giving birth. Is this a normal practice?

I explained to her why i wanted c-section, that i didn’t wanna another assisted forceps delivery like last time. She assured me that its my choice and i should once again tell my midwife to book the consultation for me on my next appointment. I am 33 weeks atm.

Yes it’s normal practice in nhs . I ve been the same , Frst delivery with forceps and pph with 3 litres loss , was unconscious for half of the day didn’t even see or hear my newborn baby . It was traumatic .
But when I got pregnant with my second I made sure I am undergoing c section . I did have consultant appointments every 2 weeks as I was a highly risk of pph . They stood by me and told me it’s my decision and they will respect it . And I did get emergency c section and smooth recovery.
Be your own advocate, ask questions and be informed about the process. Good luck

If the request is because of fear or trauma from last time, yes it is normal practice. It's to make sure you're ok and don't have any PTSD and try to look after you in more than a physical way. A bonus really!

Day out after c section

Hey,
I had an emergency c section 1 week ago I obviously don't want a day out right now but I have things booked for the Easter holidays so in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if I will be overdoing it if I have a day out then or will I be ok? I would still take it as easy as I could. When did everyone feel good enough to go out?

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!
