Has anyone on here has to go for testing to see if they have gestational diabetes? Just wondering what to expect as I know I’m in the hospital for at least two hours x

I have!
It was 100% just a long sit, i was there about 2.5 hrs, i would bring someone for company if you can or else something to help you pass the time!
For me i had to fast from midnight the nigbt before, only allowed water, on the morning i went in had my blood taken, got given the drink - mine was orange flavoured - it was alright but did make me feel a little sick at first but i think it was due to fasting.
I then had my blood taken 1hr and 2hrs after my first blood draw and that was it!
Havent heard anything since & was told no news is good news🤞🏻

Aw Thankyou so much! So if we get a letter I assume it’s because I have them. Then if not all good? Xx

Avatar

they will probably ring you if you have it. I got the call the following working day. If you don’t have it your midwife will probably tell you at your next appointment. No news is good news! X

Avatar

oh that’s good that they ring you the day after. Thankyou xx

Avatar

Thankyou! That doesn’t sound to bad. I have a growth scan the same day while I’m there so breaks up the waiting. I’m just a little nervous x

Yess i have to go on the 23rd all i know is you cant eat after 10.30pm and you can only drink black tea and coffee or plain water i know they test your blood before hand then you drink the drink wait then they test your blood again xx

I had mine done last week I was dreading it because I hate bloods being taken but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was you get your blood taken first sit and drink the sugary drink then you wait for 2hrs and they recommend drinking water while you wait to keep hydrated and then they take your bloods again and your free to leave and go eat food afterwards ect but definitely have something to keep you occupied

Thankyou everyone, I feel a bit reassured now. I think the scan inbetween will break up the wait for me aswell. Appreciate everyone’s comments xx

I'm about to go for the rest in November so all of these comments are reassuring for me as well😊

Avatar

glad you got some comfort from them as well. Hope all goes well for you x

Avatar

i have exactly like you a midwife appointment so it will break up the wait abit

Avatar

Just out of curiosity, does everyone have the test for gestational diabetes?

Avatar

not everyone I think it’s if your bmi is over the threshold. That’s why I have to have it as I’m a bit chunky 🤣 xx

Avatar

I have mine tomorrow.. dreading it lol x

Avatar

I hope it goes well for you xx

Avatar

These are all really reassuring to read, I've got mine tomorrow morning :)

Do we have to take a pee sample with us? I've got my 25wk midwife appointment on Thursday afternoon and take a pee sample for every appointment, not sure if I should take one tomorrow or not? X

Avatar

take it just before you are ready to leave your house before your appointment x

Avatar

typically we do take urine samples but my midwife base is rather good so if I forget they always have a box of pots and they just get me to do it before I go in xx

Avatar

Fab, thanks ladies :) I always take a cup from the water dispenser when I leave appointments to pee in for the sample as it's so hard to get wee in the sample pot and just pour in after 😅

Avatar

It’s such a simple appointment just the wait in between was tasking. 2 hours. My midwife booked me in for the time in between so that wasn’t too bad. Also you should stay calm so your body doesn’t utilise the glucose drank

Pregnant with baby 2

Hi everyone! I gave birth via emergency c section 9 months ago as my baby boy was measuring big, he pooped inside so there was risk of him inhaling it and I wasn’t progressing past 3cm to have a natural birth and now I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby. I’m having a consultation on Tuesday to talk about birth options and to have any questions answered but I don’t know what to ask. I feel like it would be safer having a c section again but at the same time I don’t want a c section. Does anyone have any question ideas I could ask or any advice/stories of similar situations. Tia

I have a feeling like I might get attacked from this but I’m going to say it anyways. incognito 🥸 GLP1s being mainstream for regular people who are NOT diabetic or morbidly obese is bad for so many reasons 💉💉💉

Side affects, long term dependency, supply shortages and costs, regaining the weight back as soon as you get off them.. all that ASIDE how do people not see just from a zoomed out perspective how crazy it is. I can’t imagine being someone facing food insecurity in an underdeveloped country and watching westerners give themselves daily jabs so they can lose weight while still eating a calorie surplus/ crappy foods. It’s giving hunger games when district 12 Katniss finds out at the party at the capital that people eat and then take a pill to make themselves sick so they can 🤮 and eat some more. These ads running ozempic everywhere are disgusting, and then getting amazing athletes like Serena Williams to push them talking bout “i’ve never been healthier” girl you were an OLYMPIC athlete wym??

Has anyone had a planned c section and been home the same day?

Getting pregnant after c section

When did you get pregnant again after a c section? Our plan was always to have 2 under 2 but that is now out the window because I had an emergency section. I know they say 18 months and we will be sticking to it (as much as I don’t want to) but I’m curious how quickly you got pregnant after your section?

Movements

I’m 28 weeks tomorrow. Yesterday I had loads and loads of movements but today I have only felt small flutters and a couple of kicks throughout the day. I get so confused as some people say they don’t have a pattern but others say they do. We have a Doppler so used it this evening and could hear the heartbeat and then moving but does anyone else get quieter days of movement than others? I am seeing my midwife tomorrow so will check but just find myself getting anxious about it and don’t know when to get checked. I know they encourage it but last time as soon as I got to triage baby started moving loads!
