Hi everyone. I’ve been using nipple shields to help with breast feeding my newborn but now I’m trying to go back to breast feeding without them and my little one is showing absolutely no interest in breast feeding if I don’t use them. Has he gotten used to them so can never get used to my own breast/nipple again? Have I just shot myself in the foot by using them in the first place?

They helped me when I lost a chunk of nipple to a bad latch.

Nipple shields saved my breastfeeding journey with 2 babies...it was tough going to transition back to going without but I did it and so can u.
It takes a lot of perseverance! At the start I would let baby go on the shield when they're really hungry, then come off for a burp and try to put them on without the shield. Keep doing that, along with dream feeds without the shield and it could help towards going without them altogether
Thank you so much to you all for replying. I’m really grateful for your advice . I’m going to implement what you’ve both suggested along with having a more positive attitude towards it all and fingers crossed it’ll be a positive end result! X

Good luck xx
