First trimester weight gain

So I have read that you’re only supposed to gain 1-2kg in first trimester and that lots of people don’t gain anything. But I’m 12w and way over 3kg heavier already. None of my work dresses fit already and even my stretchy leggings are getting tight. Everything I read suggests the weigh gain/showing normally doesn’t start until 20 weeks, but my bloated belly already looks pregnant!

Loving my bigger boobs though 😂 first time I’ve ever had a cleavage in my life!

Anyone else in a similar boat?

I've already gained 4kg at 14 weeks (second baby), I wouldn't worry about it to be honest. I gained a lot more than 'recommended' on various websites but no one weighed me in first pregnancy apart from at 12 weeks so no one cares! X

I FEEL huge and bloated and round (also on progesterone hormones due to loss) but have only put 3lbs on 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

Are you eating as normal? X

no - I basically had to constantly graze on salty carbs to not feel sick from around week 6. Nausea has been easing off over the last week though so hoping I can resume a more normal/healthy eating pattern soon! Have been exercising throughout, would probably have gained even more otherwise!

Yeah, I understood. I, too, have been eating just beige carby foods due to nausea, which obviously isn't healthy. It's good that you've been able to stay active, though. Now that you're feeling better, try and stick to more of a well-balanced, healthy diet with good-sized portions (no need to eat for 2).x

Don't be a slave to the scales, you're growing a human, as long as you're eating well and keeping active you're all good. X

I've put on 3kg and I'm almost 14 weeks. I think everyone is different my friend hadn't gained much by this stage, but her body shape is totally different to mine.

I've also been listening to my body and eating when I've been hungry which is more than usual I have to have more snacks throughout the day than I normally would but I need it. Growing a baby is hard!

I also just feel fat and bloated but I can just, like only just start to see that it's looking more like a bump than bloat and like I've just been getting fat. It's hard to feel like your just gaining weight like crazy, especially for me because I lost 3/4s of a stone before I got pregnant and feel like I've just put it all back on again.

Should be more like a bump at 16 weeks (but again everyone's different!!)
