Hello all, I've been diagnosed with GD and am really struggling with what to eat. Especially for snacks and have been feeling really hungry at times. I was just wondering if anyone had any top tips for snacks especially that don't cause a huge glucose spike. I'm 30 weeks and want to be sure Babba is getting enough from me. TIA x

Apple and some low sugar, organic peanut butter 🥰

Following as had negative test but 4+ found in urine at midwife, home testing ends tomorrow and blood sugar levels have me thinking GD will be coming my way.

Trust me it hard, I've recently been put on insulin and it doesn't matter what I eat its not really having an effect at the moment. But I have Found some recipes online from the diabetic UK site that are worth having ago.

Honestly it's crazy. I'm on my 4th week of having gestational diabetes. I'm on 1000mg of metformin. I find snacks don't really affect my blood such as sweets, crisps, yoghurts.. but yet certain food does 🤷

@Hayley I am on insulin due to my fasting levels being to high but they still wo t come down and I keep having to up the dose. 8/9weeks can't come soon enough lol

@Rebecca my fasting levels are all over the place. The best one I had was this morning at 4.5 the rest have been around 5.7 6.0

im the same 🙄 on insulin at night for my fasting levels! 30 units!!! But it seems to be finally having an effect.

I have to go up again tonight 26 units hoping that will have an effect but not holding out much hope 😫

Fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Today I had a McDonald’s and it didn’t even spike at all 😂 but literally have too much bread and it goes through the roof!

@Rebecca I know what you mean I had kebab and chips on Friday and my after meal reading was one of the best I'd had yet eat a bloody diabetic recipe and it's over 7 I don't understand lol

Snacks usually fine are apples, peanut butter, popcorn... Maybe make homemade kale or spinach crisps

how did you get on this morning ❤️

@Rebecca worse then yesterday 5.7 so looks like it will be 30 units tonight.

god that’s good for me 😂😂
Mine was 5.2 so within range which was yay!

I've been told mine has to be under 5.0 hopefully I will get there at some point

Zero or low carb wraps with cheese, meat and avocado are a go to of mine. You can basically eat as much of them as you like. My dietitian says healthy fats like cheese and avocado are good so I've been supplementing my diet with them
