Cost of living payment
Hi can someone help me get my head around this please. Delete if not allowed (not sure who to ask)
Does anyone know if I will receive the cost of living payment this autumn
So I’ve been claiming as a single parent for around 2 years now (I do work but on maternity) and made a new joint claim as my partner moved in with me in September. My assessment period is from 16/08/2023- 15/09/2023 and I received our first payment as a joint claim on 22/09/2023
I’ve been trying to look into it but I struggle with things like this

Not sure tbh as ur not a straight forward case like me.Can u not call them & ask or write on ur journal?
If ur eligable u wont have to apply you will automatically get it.payments are between 31st oct to the 19th nov.
My friend works 16 hours as a single parent & got it but didnt have a joint claim

I think you will? Your benefit hasn’t stopped entirely despite you changing your claim. Those still on a joint claim are still eligible as I’ve been on a joint claim and received mine - I thought it was as long as you didn’t receive a nil award during the particular assessment period before of the payment? For example this upcoming COL payment’s assessment period is between the 18th August & 17th September.
The website says “To be eligible for the Cost of Living Payment from DWP, you need to have been entitled to a payment for a qualifying benefit between 18 August 2023 and 17 September 2023, or payment for an assessment period, ending between these dates” so as long as you’ve received a payment between that time I think you’ll be fine ☺️🤍xx
