Recipe ideas

So I really want to give my baby what I eat but I find at lot is not acceptable due to the salt/sugar. I will eat spaghetti bolognaise using a jar of sauce and a chilli con carne but understand I can’t give it to my baby. Can I make this stuff from scratch? Does anyone have any recipe ideas I can give to my baby. Thank you!

You can use Jars of sauce. That's okay. I was being visited regularly by a nursery nurse who helped me with looking after my baby.

They said using jars of sauce is fine, just don't then add additional salt and such.

But if you are eating it, give it to your baby :)

You can make Bolognese and chili from scratch but I don't know recipes off the top of my head.

To be honest I am subscribed to an app called Side kick. It's just a normal recipe app not specific for babies. But I do recommend it, as they do lots of different kinds of recipes each week

I find the easiest way to do this is to make a veg sauce as a base. I make a huge batch and freeze it in small food bags and use it as a base for pasta, chilli and curry.

You basically just roast a load of veg with a little oil and blitz it up. Tomatoes, courgette, carrots, peppers, onions, bit if garlic, or anything else you have that you need to use and roast it for 40 mins, I have nutri bullet and blitz it once it's cooled.

For pasta I add basil and oregano to the sauce and cook the pasta, sometimes I add a little mince and mushrooms.

For chilli I add mixed beans a little chilli powder, paprika and cumin and serve it with rice, avocado a little sour cream. Again sometimes I add a little mince.

And for curry I add mild curry powder, cumin, coriander and garam masala, sometimes I put chicken in it, sometimes I put cauliflower in and serve with rice and a bit of naan bread.

It's makes it super simple to make a load of meals from scratch with minimal effort. Xx

You can also buy baby sauces. I managed to get a bolognese and normal tomato sauce (without the pasta already added) from Boots. This was convenient as I was able to freeze half of it. I also use jars. I tried making my own but it wasn’t very nice and seperate when frozen.

BBC good food is great for recipes like this. We make bolognese, chili etc… from scratch and it’s really simple, basically just chopped tomatoes and some veg but the recipes on there are a great starting point! 😊

Mama needs new friends ✨

Hey mamas 🤍 I'm going to be honest — I'm at a season in my life where I'm craving real, genuine friendship. The kind where we actually check on each other. Where conversations go both ways. Where we can laugh, vent, cry, and just *be* without it feeling one-sided.

I'm a stay at home mom of 6 (yes, 6! 👏🏼) and my days are full but my cup feels a little empty in the friendship department. I'm looking for women who get it — the chaos, the beauty, the exhaustion, all of it.

If you're a mom who values deep, reciprocal friendship and you're also out here looking for your people — drop a 👋 below. Let's actually get to know each other. 🤍

Leaving your baby

Has anyone else not left their baby to be looked after by someone else (not dad) yet? I still don't feel ready but am being told I should be by now

Random but when you use a vibrator do you need to hold your lips open for it to touch the bean ?

It gets annoying because even if I open my legs I still need to hold the lips open to touch the bean and I have to do it the entire time my lips are literally sealed closed 🤣
