This is a bit long winded, but I’ve had enough of keep calling my doctors I think 111 is my next bet. a little TMI.
So this is my first pregnancy, I’ve struggled with back pain before I was pregnant, I was waiting to be diagnosed with scoliosis before we found out obviously x-rays are not recommended during pregnancy, so I’m having to wait until after I’ve had the baby to rule out scoliosis. Well, my back pains been getting worse now. To the point, I can’t even sit down without it hurting I can’t lay down in bed without having pain I’ve tried literally everything I’ve tried cold I’ve tried heat don’t take tablets so I’ve tried all natural remedies but nothing is working. I’ve put the extra backpain down to really bad constipation. The whole 22 weeks of my pregnancy I’ve had bad constipation and I’ve only been able to pass stool maybe once every week sometimes longer, this is also something I suffered with before pregnancy. Well last night I was lying in bed really early because I didn’t feel great before I fell asleep I felt like I was gonna throw up but I decided to go to sleep anyway, as I didn’t wanna force myself to be sick. I woke up about eight or nine times with severe stomach pain, (I was in tears) luckily I have the most supportive partner who got up with me at 2am while he had work at 5am this morning and made me a hot water bottle give me a bottle of water to drink and told me to sit on the toilet. Eventually after about half hour of sitting on the toilet, I managed to pass some stool but it was very explosive and it had white bits in it. My bellyache had gone away. I then had a wee. I noticed that the colour was tinged a little bit red. I didn’t think anything of it until now as I done a urine sample at the doctors yesterday and it was all clear. But after digging myself into a deep hole on Google, I’m worried that it could be something more serious. My discharge is normal. I don’t have any pain anymore as I’ve been to the toilet. I’m just worried about the colour of my urine.
Do I call my doctors again or do I go straight to 111.

I don’t have the answers, but I know the constipation and back pain is real! A pregnancy pillow really helped my back pain - I had issues pre pregnancy too. The constipation, I’ve made a conscious effort to have high fibre cereal as I used to hardly go in a week and bleed when I did. It is much more manageable now. I still get constipated and it bloody hurts when I do, but not as much as before. 100% 111 it if your drs are not helping! Each time I go abojt back pain they just fob me off and it’s so frustrating. There are pregnancy safe stool softeners, perhaps that’ll help?

I’d call 111 as well if you’re not getting much help from the doctors or call MAU (Maternity Assessment Unit) and let them know about the colour of your urine xx

I’d get yourself in to get checked and be persistent. Have they ran any bloods to check your markers?

I find when I’m constipated that my back pain is 100x worse! It’s horrific. I’ve had to play devils advocate in the past and take cocodamol for the pain and deal with the fact it makes you even more constipated later because I’ve been in that much pain.
Constipation can then effect other organs inside too if it’s that severe, as you can end up straining etc which can lead to other things, so it sounds like a catch 22 but what you’re explaining does seem pretty horrible so I would definitely ring 111 and see if they can help at all.
The colour of your urine should be the main thing you mention to them as a worrying sign.

Try to get a clean catch of your urine in a pot and take it to either the GP or maternity assessment this morning for dipping. It could actually be blood from your back passage mixing in (if you've had a really hard poo, sometimes it causes really nasty scratches called fissures which can drip blood the next time you sit on the toilet), but you need to get checked out either way to be sure and for your own worries
