Plus size Conceiving

Hello! I’m 21 years old and a size 23-25 UK. I was trying for a baby a few months ago but kind of gave up because I worry my weight will stop me having a baby. Any tips? Is there hope? X

Hey! I felt the exact same as you! At the time I conceived I was a size 24-26 UK? It took me only 3 cycles to conceive, don’t ever worry your weight will stop you being able to have a baby ❤️

Honestly don’t be, they’re miracle workers! It’s all natural too. Start small and see how you feel :) with my first I started taking maca prior to taking my implant out to prep my body and I got pregnant so fast after having it out we couldn’t work out if I’d actually conceived just before getting it out xx

Hey! I’m a size 22 and I’m currently 31 weeks pregnant with a completely healthy pregnant so far!

It took us a good few months to conceive but the moment I gave up I caught pregnant :)

Takes a while if you come off contraception as well mind!

Baby dust to you 🧚‍♀️

I'm size 26-28, BMI 47 and currently 37 weeks with our rainbow baby. I have Pcos so it took longer to conceive but taking supplements like inositol will help you, I buy mine from amazon.

It can take a fertility healthy couple up to a year to conceive so don't expect it to happen straight away x

Same as Leah, I was a size 22-24 and conceived on like 2nd or 3rd ovulation after we got married.
While of course weight is a factor but I realised that I conceived on the exact month a lot of other factors were changed... we moved with family so my stress levels were muuuch lower, I was eating more nutritious foods (thanks to living with them), I was taking folic acid, we had more time with less travel so were less tired and happy to try more frequently and I just generally felt safer and calmer once the stress from moving was done.
Even on my first midwife appt I thought I'd be told I'm the highest risk out there but that wasn't the case. There are loads of other factors. And you're still soo young. I always reminded myself it takes up to a year statistically so I just told myself unless I'm past that year I will not worry about it.
Hope this helps 💖 please stay positive, you got this 💖

Hi girl! I’m here to tell you that being plus size doesn’t necessarily affect your ability to conceive. A doctor in my home country had told me at 20 years old that I had less than 5% chance of getting pregnant because of my being overweight, it really brought me down but I ignored him. 5 years later, when i was ready to start trying I thought it would be impossible- I GOT PREGNANT THE FIRST TRY AFTER QUITTING BIRTH CONTROL! My baby was perfectly healthy and a perfect weight. Do not let these awful old doctors bring you down!❤️

I’m a uk 24, 6 weeks pregnant and 37 so if I can conceive at my age you most definitely can with yours x

I personally wasn’t trying to conceive, but was extremely convinced it would be really difficult due to my weight. I’m size 22, took 4 months 🫣. Before the partner I’m with now, I was in a long term relationship and never even as so much as had a scare. It’ll happen! Try not to be hard on yourself about it

Your weight shouldn’t be a worry! It took us 15 months to get pregnant and I had a healthy pregnancy, no issues. Doctors put me as high risk just because of my BMI but I delivered all natural with no complications. The hard part of high BMI is learning to advocate for yourself when they want to push certain practices you may not agree with. 🤍

My doctor wouldn’t do anything until we tried for 12 months. So at 6 months of trying I did a home fertility test (modern fertility) to give me peace of mind and all my levels seemed fine.

You got this, try to relax and know that many plus size people have babies! There’s hope ☀️

Don’t even worry about your weight playing a role UNTIL there’s a medically associated reason give to you by a doctor for you to believe it’s going to play a role! Track your cycle and your ovulation (I used ovulation strips to be sure of when the window was), start taking prenatal vitamins and get to baby making! Sending all the baby dust your way! ✨

Day out after c section

Hey,
I had an emergency c section 1 week ago I obviously don't want a day out right now but I have things booked for the Easter holidays so in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if I will be overdoing it if I have a day out then or will I be ok? I would still take it as easy as I could. When did everyone feel good enough to go out?

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!
