I am terrified but I can’t live like this anymore.
I got pregnant about 1 month into a new relationship and my son is now nearly 2 making us together almost 3 years. I started to lose interest about a month into being pregnant. I blamed it on hormones and continued to work on our relationship. I quit my job at about 6 months pregnant and was fully dependent on him until just about 8 months ago when I decided to go back to work part time. I am not making enough to be on my own but if I needed to I could.
I just am struggling with a lot of the unknowns. Not only is it extremely expensive to live as a single parent but it’s also scary thinking about doing everything on my own. I also am dreading splitting up time and not seeing my son every day. He is an amazing dad and I would never take him to court or anything of that matter.
He is so so in love with me still and I love him so much as a person. But I can’t keep living a lie. I can’t keep dragging him a long when deep down I know I won’t ever get there with him. And girls I have trieeeeed. We have done couples therapy. I continued to make excuses for why I was disconnected. I wasn’t just lieing I was just trying so hard to figure out why I was feeling the way I was feeling. Why am I not in love with this wonderful man???
And it’s not that I want to be with other people. I am so insecure with myself and my weight gain (from having a baby and depression about my life.) that’s not even possible for me to fathom.
I don’t know what to do. And I’m not even sure I have a straight question for you all. I just need advise. How do you do it on your own? How do you leave someone that would do anything to make the relationship work? How do you find yourself again after depending on someone for years? How do you have a 2 year old alone? This doesn’t feel possible but I am so unhappy and I need to find myself again.
Side note- Im starting a very intensive therapy next month and he is my only real emotional support I have in my life outside from a few friends. But he will have to take me and pick me up because it is a medication induced therapy. I want to give that a chance to work and see if maybe my lack of desire toward him is more something to do with myself.
Anyways- any words of encouragement and advice welcome. Please and thank you! ❤️🥺

Sorry to hear your story, it sounds like you’re in a really difficult position and that you aren’t sure what to do for a couple of different reasons!
It sounds like since you’ve been together you’ve been on a rollercoaster of hormones and that won’t be helping the situation!
I think it’s defo a good idea to do the therapy like you said as that may help you make a decision either way!!

I would talk to him about these feelings you’re having. I would be hesitant to leave the relationship before you start therapy, it sounds like your self doubt is playing a big role in this and you may be able to improve your relationship once that improves.

Think of your child and what’s in the best interest of them in seeing how a relationship should function.
You set the precedents for what they view as acceptable later on.
NOT Saying you’re doing anything wrong, just saying you both deserve to be happy whether it be with eachother or separate. But could help to make your decision based off of what is going to ultimately make you happy, which in turn will make you even happier for your baby.

Hello, so sorry you’re going through this. It’s the worst feeling ever. I also fell pregnant quickly. Only 2 weeks after meeting/hanging out with someone. We weren’t even in a relationship and a few months in and during the pregnancy all I thought of was leaving. Wasn’t happy at all but didn’t know how it could work financially and just physically with a baby. Bub is now 9 months and I am happy in the relationship but it took me so long and I still get really negative thoughts.
I’m not saying you should stay, but I think you should work on your mental state before leaving. Finding happiness and clarity will help whether you stay or leave. And helps you make better decisions.
I worked super hard for many months and feel soooooo much better tackling life in a good mindset.
Not sure if it helps you but I wish you the very best. Happiness is within you and you can absolutely feel it and should on a regular basis 🥰🥰🥰

I agree with everyone that you should seek counseling very first thing. You mention depression, you need some screening, counseling and treatment for that before you try to leave.

I do think you may think about seeking therapy & to love yourself first before leaving a really good man who loves you and his child.
Sometimes it’s actually almost impossible to love a good guy who treats you well when you don’t love yourself.
When we’re feeling down, we think it’s due to the person we’re with but being happy is an internal job. It has nothing to do with him.
So please don’t leave just yet. If he wasn’t so emotionally available and sweet you’d actually love him because it would validate for you how you feel about yourself.
Crazy! Right? I say this from experience, I only liked bad guys for a long time until I met my husband. He’s amazing and there are days Im not sure I’m in love with him and I remind myself it’s a commitment we’ve made to continue to fall in love and grow together.
I truly pray 🙏🏽 you love yourself & love your life. It’s never greener on the other side

Do the therapy, then make life changing decisions!!
I'm so sorry you're going through all this, hopefully the medication and therapy will help!!
Please don't make rash decisions and talk after the intense therapy!!
Wish you the best of luck hun!!
And if all this is over and you truly are not in love with him still, leaving is the right thing to do!!

Wishing you well! I agree with others to work out the therapy and medication and then think through the relationship. You shouldn’t feel trapped but know you have time to work it all out.
