Elective c-section

I’ve had a C-section & 3 vaginal deliveries. For me vaginal was way easier, recovery etc is a lot better. I didn’t have an epidural with any so can’t comment on that I’m afraid xx

Speaking from my experience and I only have 1 baby - I had an elective c section as my baby was breech and on the 97th percentile otherwise I’d have chosen vaginal. I personally found the recovery from c section really tough and I am really hopeful of vaginal for my next. I’d recommend looking at positive birth stories & hypnobirthing to help with your negative thoughts. However, if I had to I would have a c section again in a heartbeat as it got my little one here safely. Go with your heart x

thank you thats very helpful, my babys currently around the 50th percentile with 6 weeks till due date and shes in head down so maybe i will trust my body a bit more and try push her out!! I have a lot of friends and family that have had very traumatic births that have ended in emergency c section so i think in my head i will end the same way so why not just skip the first part!! I know it could be so different for me but as i say i always jump to worse conclusion 🙈

I chose an elective c section as one of my reasons was some births end up with an emergency c section anyway which might not of happened to me but it could’ve done as my baby stopped moving also when my waters broke (the same day as my elective c section!!) so you never know.
I was out by day 5, the recovery for an elective isn’t half as bad as what some people make out. All you need is support and pain meds and you’ll be absolutely fine!! No regrets at all!

I did yeah as I’d always said I’d want a c section and I didn’t realise until 18 weeks pregnant I could actually have one just by choice!!
It’s looked down upon by so many people so I never told people it’s what I was going to do. I saw 2 consultants and had my date by 35 weeks.
It’s got good and bad days but as long as you have support you’ll be fine.
I was up and walking around the ward 5 and a half hours afterwards. Feeding and changing my baby straight away too.
If you do look for advice on this app I really do recommend to avoid looking at emergency c sections as people will put you off so much. People tried to do it with me and of course you get people questioning you about it.
If I had another baby I would have another c section without a doubt!
For me it benefited me and my partner better, he could plan leave from work, we got everything ready, we only told my mum otherwise surprised everyone else.

I chose elective c section because baby was measuring big & I’m quite small framed. I had a large cyst on my ovary so they didn’t want me going to 41 weeks.

I gave baby time to come naturally up until her due date. Then I had to choose between induction or c section. I chose c section because I had researched a lot and felt so much more comfortable with it.

I personally loved my birth. I was out the next day, it took 7 weeks until I was 100% but each day got better and better. Within a week I was leaving the house and walking around in malls, etc. I could get out of bed and lift my baby a few hours after my c section.

It wasn’t easy, but I was okay. The whole experience felt very relaxed. 🙌

I don’t have any regrets but I have heard vaginal can often have a quicker recovery but it all depends how it goes xx

I had an elective. Was very unsure on if I should have it or choose vaginal but I knew a lot of people who had traumatic births and needed episiotomy and other interventions, or emergency c section and I didn't want those.

It was really calm, really enjoyable. Recovery was quite easy - start doing some deep core exercises now and your body will thank you! I was able to do squats whilst brushing my teeth on day 2.

Baby was safely delivered and had cord round neck twice very tight so very likely would have needed intervention! Recovery is inconvenient as gotta be careful, but it's not too bad. A friend who needed episiotomy then had infection and took 3 months to recover fully so it depends on your birth I suppose?

yeah i have always though i would prefer c section but i think others push views on it so much that its made me question it!! Thanks for your positive story tho, I’m also in a similar situation with my partner and work and he works far away so I’m worried i will go in to labour naturally and he wont be able to get to me fast! Thank you!!

I had a c section at 37 weeks after a very long failed induction.. and my daughter had restricted growth..I really wanted a natural birth but either way I think its so hard.

I personally was terrified of the thought of being awake and cut open and a baby pulled out.. but It was ok I got through it because I had to . The spinal wasnt as bad as i thought.... I found it all uncomfortable as you can still feel it all just without the pain my baby was wedged in so a lot of pushing down on me. I also had a lot of blood loss when I first stood up and I couldn't wait for the catheter to be removed. The dressing is removed on day 5.

The recovery was long for me but manageable. I was up walking around but did get an infection so I couldn't drive for 7 weeks which was annoying.

I'm pregnant again fell when my daughter was 10 months so I'm not sure if I can but will push for a vaginal birth. I think there's pro and cons either way but both just as hard in different ways..
