Stepping Hill

The birthing centre really looked after me, I went in at around 1am and was there until shift swap at 8am, I was then moved to the delivery ward and they left me all day with no pain relief, no food nothing until shift swap again when I got another new midwife who was actually helpful and lovely. I genuinely believe my experience was down to what midwife I had each time though so please make sure you request things and don’t just get on with it like I did! You’ll be absolutely fine though and I wish you all the luck 🤍 congratulations xxx

First off always remember that an induction is your choice and can never be forced into one. I was offered one for several different reasons so I always asked lots of questions and didn’t accept one until I had a valid reason for it. I think feeling in control of this decision really helped my experience so feel free to ask why they’re inducting you / how that may affect your birth plan etc!!

Hi Charlotte, my daughter was born in the delivery suite last Thursday evening. The staff have been incredible. It was always the plan for us but rest assured that there is little difference between the birth centre and delivery suite. There is a birthing pool in one of the delivery suite rooms if you let them know if that’s your wish and they’ll try there best to make it happen. X

As for the actual induction, I found it a really positive process! Again, I think because I asked lots of questions and always felt in control. The rooms are private which is nice and the food was surprisingly good imo! One of the rooms still has a pool and there’s a room with a bath I used after my waters went. My labour went v fast so wasn’t able to get pain relief other than gas and air but I was happy with what was offered and being done. I felt very looked after but wasn’t scared to ask for or demand stuff when needed. This is YOUR labour gal, you got this 💓

Delivery suite is amazing staff are always there if you need anything or to ask any questions. I can't be on the birth centre as I'm a diabetic so need to be looked after thoroughly on delivery who gave me the best care. I'm being induced in January and hoping for a vbac

I was booked at the birth centre but ended up giving birth on the delivery suite and I honestly could not fault them. The staff were incredible and made the whole experience even more amazing. Good luck and try to enjoy it as much as you can! X

I had both my babies on delivery suite at stepping hill. One natural and one induction ending in an emergency C-section.
Both times the midwives were amazing, explained everything that was happening and why and I felt very well looked after both times. X

I had my little one in the delivery suite. Went in at 9am on the Thursday, was looked after by loads of different midwifes who were so caring and lovely! And then had 2 midwifes towards the end, about 24 hours later who were amazing. Andrea and Daisy! I felt really safe with them all, ended up having an induction and an emergency c section which happened really quick. Good luck :) p.s take loads of snacks! Xx

The midwives were fab on the delivery suite. I did have a 7 night stay due to other issues & I was induced on the Monday and gave birth on the Thursday afternoon back in June, but it was a stop/ start induction for various reasons. It ended in us being rushed to theatre to see if they could deliver by forceps, all the staff including theatre staff/ Paediatricians/ Anaesthetists are amazing. The delivery suite was fab. They’ll look after you, once you’re on the delivery suite, you’ll have your own room whilst being induced which is so much nicer than being on the ward.
