Mamas to older girls; Puberty & Changes 🥹

What are the signs for the above? When do you know is the right time to talk to your girl about hormones and the changes to expect. Also, when & how do you know is the right time to introduce crop tops/non wired bras? My 8 year looks to be ‘budding’.. So I’m desperate for some advise as she’s my oldest girl so first time going through this 💗

I would go ahead and start having little talks with her now. Better to be prepared than not. How old were you when you started? How old was your mom? The women in your husband's family? I think that all comes into account. My husband's sister was 9 when she got her 1st period, so I prepared my daughter early. She didn't end up starting until she was 13, but she knew what to expect, and I taught her about how to track her mucous and what the different kinds meant so she had a better idea of what was going on.

- I was 10 when I started. Not sure about my mom, I’ll ask! I suppose I don’t really know how to tackle these little talks either. How to make sure she takes it in and understands..

Just take it slow and let her ask questions. Has she ever come into the bathroom with you when you have your period? When my daughter was little I'd have her come in the bathroom with me if we were in public rather than leave her alone outside and sometimes she'd see things.

I'd just explain when she'd ask that the blood was normal and just meant we weren't having another baby right now.

- I have always made sure she doesn’t see anything when I’m on one though; So probably made it more complicated for myself 😂 She does however ask what my patch is, I wear the contraception patch and often she will ask what is it for 🫣

Avatar

Well, I guess that's something. Lol What have you told her about that? Anything?

Avatar

- Again, I have always closed it off because I never know what to say! 😂😭

I would just keep it simple. Tell her that it keeps you from having another baby right now. Let her ask questions, and just answer them as simply and honestly as possible.

- Your so right! Thank you! 💗

On the final stretch.. How we feeling ladies?

Not long left to go for our May babies ladies!!! I’m 35 weeks now and I’m honestly so over being pregnant at this point everything hurts, I’m restless and always uncomfortable and quite frankly just not enjoying these last few weeks at alllllll! Baby girl has been head down since 32 weeks and always pressing on my bladder so the constant peeing is another added extra and don’t even get me started on the lightning crotch!!!

How is everyone else feeling?

(Cheeky little bump update) people keep saying it looks like my bump has dropped but I really don’t see or feel like it has at all so not sure what others are seeing 🤷🏽‍♀️

C section overnight stay and a toddler

I will have an elective c section for my second baby (same as my first).

With my first, my partner stayed with me in the hospital overnight and helped me a lot with the baby so I had a pretty smooth recovery and was up and running 5 days postpartum.

Now, we need to decide if we should ask family members to come over (from abroad) and help with our toddler or we try to do the coordination/ management ourselves.

The hospital is only a 10 minute drive from our place and during the day my toddler will be at nursery (and my partner will be with me). I think I can handle 1-2 nights by myself at the hospital with the baby but I’m little concerned how would I lift the baby on day 1 given I will have a catheter. I don’t want to solely be relying on midwives. And if I fall asleep during the night, I’m also a bit worried about nobody looking after the baby.

You would think I would remember how it was the first night with my first but it’s all a blur.

What would you recommend if you had 2 c-sections and the same situation? Did you ask family to help?

Thanks!

Can someone describe contractions to me?

I’m having random pain in different parts of my belly and pelvis and I have a backache. I also had loose bowels earlier, and I feel baby girl moving super low in my pelvis. Is this early labour? My consultant OB wanted me to go to the local hospital at the first sign of labour (because I’m supposed to be delivering at a hospital farther away) but I was just there last night and basically no sign of labour. I don’t want to go for a false alarm.
Thanks!

Elective section before 39 weeks?

I've got elective section booked for 39+3, they won't do it any earlier because they don't do them before 39 weeks. They don't do them on weekends or certain days of the week apparently which is why earliest I can have is 39+3. I'm terrified of going into natural labour. Is this the same in most hospitals?
