Has anyone had a c section before and opted for general anaesthetic?

I’ve been told I’ll be given a spinal and if it doesn’t work the second time it will be GA. I’m wondering if GA is the best route to prevent back problems down the line. Not sure…

Ask to speak to an anaesthetist. Spinal is generally recommended because there is less bleeding, no medication transferring to baby (general anaesthetic drugs usually have some effect on baby), you can do skin to skin and post op pain is better with spinal. The vast majority of people don't have any ongoing back issues xx

Thank you - it’s the procedure itself I’m very anxious over! I really have a fear of surgery despite 2 GAs before x

@Rachael I promise you won't give a monkeys after baby is delivered and in your arms. The theatre team and anaesthetists are really good at keeping you chatting and distracted! They can give you something to calm you down if needed. Xx

thank you! The calming down bit is really good to know there is an option for x
