I’m going to be a solo mum with no family or partner.
Have one friend who will be there for me to take me to / pick me up from hospital and help a little bit I will be doing this mostly on my own. Having cesearian due to fibroids. First child also.
Read up a little on doula’s but someone also recommended the money spent on a doula could maybe be better spent on a night nurse or some paid help in the first week when bring baby home.
A doula sounds good but I think maybe their right. I think i will benefit better from the support from when baby comes home onwards more than from a doula who helps before baby arrives, helps when in hospital and a little after.
Any advice?

It depends on how you feel! Congratulations on doing it alone it can be really hard !!
If your really worried about labour a doula would be great however there’s actually some women and midwives that volunteer to stay with women who are doing it alone so maybe you could do this for moral support?
Night nurse would be great as a c section is major surgery ik sure you’ll need the time to get some rest x

I’m also on the same journey. I don’t have a birth partner, but think I can work that one out. I’m not sure how to go about looking for a night nurse, but I do like the idea of having someone with me at home in those first few weeks until I get into a routine. Have you been able to identify anyone?

Hey, I’m a birth and postnatal doula. Happy to chat if you have questions. ☺️
