Sleep regression at 4 months

Yes naturally at 4 months there whole sleep pattern changes - sleep cycles shorten and there becoming more developed in day to day life which effects there sleep however the result of all this and the way it shows up in babies will differ drastically and be different for all.

I think the key is independent sleeping as this is the time they will need to self soothe to limit all the night wake ups or needing as much assistance to get back off. Xx

Not every baby goes through it, but the majority do - though for some it’s not that bad.
Don’t worry, there’s not much you can do about it, though agree with Becky about independent sleeping and try not to introduce sleep crutches x

My LO is 4 1/2 months and if I’m completely honest his sleep has improved!! He has stopped waking up for feeds in the night only diffence I’ve found is he struggles to settle around 2/3am he doesn’t cry or anything he just is wiggling around but only lasts a couple of minutes and he goes back to sleep!

Watch me jinx it now and have a bad night 😂

My baby didn’t have any sort of regressions until 9 months… and that was pretty horrific. But only lasted a few weeks and she went back to her normal sleeping routine x

Every baby technically goes through the change but not all babies struggle with side effects - as top comment mentions generally independent sleep skills are key to sailing smoothly through it so that when they stir more frequently through sleep cycles they don’t look for what put them to sleep in the first place! If they know that they fell asleep in their cot by themselves at the beginning of nap or bed time then they’re likely to feel okay to go back to sleep on their own when they shift between sleep cycles
