Hi guys
I’ve been seeing pictures of other women’s scans of their baby’s at say 14 weeks and their babies are a lot bigger than mine when I’m 16 weeks.
My baby looks tiny on the scan pictures, is this something to be worried about? 😢

I had a scan at 14 weeks and my baby looks massive but thats only because i had to have an internal and they got really close to baby, my 12 week scan she managed to get a really close clear image too, if there was anything to be concerned about then the doctor or sonographer would have told you.

No don’t compare
You can’t actually see the baby and scans sometimes doesn’t always accurately reflect what’s inside x

I was told by the sonographer that all babies grow at a certain rate up until 20ish weeks. It's a universal rate. That's how they know how many weeks you are from the scan/measurements.
I asked if my second was smaller than it was supposed to be at the first scan due to my first being SGA and being told I may have to take aspirin.
So it's unlikely that they're small. It's probably how the sonographer photographed them, they can zoom in and out to get better views. So yours was probably just a bit more zoomed out than most.

You can’t judge the size of a baby purely based on scan images. Sonographers have their own preferred settings and can be more ‘zoomed’ in if that makes sense? I used to work in a private scan clinic where we did gender and 4D scans etc, and the babies at 16 weeks looked quite big until we left the ‘zoomed out’ settings from a 4D scan on a baby at like 30 weeks compared to the 16 week baby and it made it look TINY. Ever since then I just realised it’s based on how zoomed in the sonographer has gone, don’t worry lovely! x

The size of the baby on the pic is only relative to how much they zoomed in. They should measure CRL (crown rump length) every scan and that will give you an indication of growth. You scan says 11.8cm on the top (not sure if that is the baby length or the sac), mine at 14 weeks was 7.8cm if that helps. I just keep track of that and make sure it’s increasing (ours is increasing faster than expected so every time we get scanned I get a sooner due date).

Your picture on the post is only of the baby's head with arm bent and hand on there face/head..

I have other pictures and he looks tiny. It was just the question. It was a picture so my post didn’t get lost
