I did this with my 1st, except I left the house for an emergency & left the stove on.
Fire department was in attendance when my house filled with smoke etc $100 pot destroyed.

My friend had a microwave sterilizer. She would toss her bottles and soothers in it. Her mom wanted to be helpful and sterilize them for her one morning when we were up at the cottage. I woke up to a horrific smell and went to investigate. Found her mom opening all the windows and she told me she accidentally grabbed the thermometer soother along with the others. So she microwaved metal! Whole cottage smelled toxic. Thankfully two bottles were safe in the fridge still. Everything else got tossed

I have the microwave one and it almost made my microwave catch on fire hence why I’m boiling them for now 😭 there’s like a hole inside and it catches on fire when you use it now Lmaoo

Glad nothing bad really happened. I set the timer on my phone when I do it so I don’t forget. That could be something he could do next time. Or get a sterilizer to put your mind at ease.

I put alarms too and I’ve told him but he said he’s fine I hope this helps him realize he should start that. Yeah I will soon I’m just waiting for payday to get a good one

My own mom did this. It happens 🤷🏾‍♀️. It may be worth investing in a sterilizer though. Just to have one less worry. I forget bottles all the time. The prices have really come down recently too.$15-$30 It might even save you a couple bucks just in saved bottles.

It does happen. No worries, but look out for weaponized incompetence. I'm not saying that's exactly what's happening here. But be aware... you know your partner best, maybe it's nothing to worry about obvs. But make sure you don't change your behavior to "oh, Bill can't handle sterilizing the bottles. I better do that myself." He is a capable man.

no yeah I’m quick to call him out on stuff like that and usually shit like this happens that makes him be more serious about stuff after. Yesterday he was worn out when he was washing them while I was trying to soothe our son who had been fighting his sleep for 6 hours so that’s why I’m not mad at him I’ve forgotten to turn them off a couple times even with the alarm because of my adhd. Thankfully not to the point of melting but yeah 😂

Omg I left the gas on last night. I was cooking on 3 different burners at the same time and quickly turned off two but forgot the third. I didn’t smell it when I woke up at least not where I was sleeping so I’m not too worried. Luckily the kitchen window and and bathroom window was open
