I really want to stop breastfeeding my son he is 2 years 6 months old. I am currently tandem feeding my 2 month old and him. I have been trying to o ly breastfeed him at bed time and nap time. He wants to feed all the time. He has become aggressive about it.

If you have a partner or family member able to help it may be best to separate for feedings. Meals and even bed time let dad or a family member handle the older child so there's no easy access to nurse. Sounds a bit harsh but I've heard it suggested before for trying to wean aggressive/stubborn eaters

I was in this boat - my 3 year old upped her requests the moment her little brother was born. I decided to go the other way - I truly believe that a need met is a need outgrown. Your littlest one is so new, and that will have had such a colossal impact on your older child. Instead of seeing my girl as an annoyance, constantly begging for me, I came to see her as still such a tiny human herself just looking to establish that she was as important to me as her little competitor. I eased off all restrictions on day time feeds, and lo and behold, she’s eased right off on asking for it. It’s been one of the hardest times of being a parent of two for me, so sending solidarity! It’s totally normal behaviour on his part and it’s OK to find it hard.

Also I think that stopping so recently after your new baby’s arrival could be detrimental for their bond - the main reason I kept feeding my eldest is because I don’t want her to see the new baby as her replacement or the reason she no longer gets access to the boob (and the love and comfort that goes with it). Of course, breastfeeding has to work for both of you, so if you decide that now is the time, I’d check out La Leche League’s resources online for some info (I’m currently reading ‘when weaning happens’ and ‘mothering your nursing toddler’ - both great books if you can source them). It’s a hard decision, but you’ll find your way.

I’m not in your exact situation, as I don’t have a newer baby, but I’m currently working on weaning my 2.5 year old!
I was doing only before bed and naps, plus first thing in the mornings, but then he caught a cold so I went back to on demand for about a week and when trying to go back to the reduced feedings he was getting angry/aggressive.
My husband and I decided that we just need to stop, so that last 3 days have been hard needless to say.
I’ve been offering him something to drink when he asks to nurse, and usually he gets upset but then takes what I offered, plus when it’s his time to sleep he is getting angry, but I offer to cuddle and rock him instead of nurse, which he accepts after voicing how upset he is.
Good luck momma!
