We struggled with infertility, and we were on the verge of starting IVF, but we miraculously conceived naturally. The entire infertility journey was challenging, and intimacy felt like a chore. I was constantly fixated on every detail. We desire another child, but I'm afraid of falling back into that obsessive cycle of monitoring everything, which nearly ruined us. I really want more children, but I don't want to let obsession control me again… any advice?

The main thing that just about kept me sane during infertility (our daughter is an IVF baby) was developing a few different coping strategies to make life bearable.
My top things were keeping a positivity journal, just a basic list each day of things I was happy for (sunny day, time with husband etc).
Keeping extra busy during to two week wait and ordering myself small treats to arrive when my period was due.
Doing small hobbies that helped me relax and occupied my brain. For me it was doing jigsaws and colouring.
I also recommend Robyn Birkin podcasts, she has some great coping strategies too.
As best as you can I would avoid tracking and just aim for being intimate 2 to 3 times a week throughout your cycle to try to keep the pressure off.
I’m saying all this while also terrified that we won’t be able to have another. At the moment I am hopeful though.

What about giving yourself a timeframe, say 3/4m or so of trying to conceive naturally and see what happens? No pressure. (Easier said than done!)
Then after that you can start tracking cycles etc.
We nearly went through IVF but conceived (kinda) naturally.
Like the above comment says, try and keep yourself busy and I’m sure with your baby you will be busier than before! X

My LO is an ivf baby - 10 years TTC - 5 of which were trying to meet the nhs criteria for IVF.
We will not be trying for no2 despite wanting it because I WILL NOT go back into that headspace. To be perfectly honest, 9mPP and I’m actually almost frightened to be intimate again because I don’t want to be thinking “am I, aren’t I?” Each month! Happy to chat if you’d like someone who understands to speak to.
