Anyone else go for a sweep and discover that they’re already dilated? I was 4cm dilated beginning the sweep and 5cm by the end. Cramping and a considerable amount of blood which started red and then eventually brown (it’s stopped now). Has anyone had this? What happened next?

I would suggest you call Labour ward as 4cm is established Labour

I’m confused though as I got the sweep done at the hospital and the midwife said to wait for contractions 🤔 I feel so confused about what to do as I haven’t had any contractions yet I don’t think!

did they send you him at 5cm??? That doesn’t make any sense! As Charlotte says, that’s established labour 😬

Same as above call triage your midwife should have kept you in surely x

they can monitor baby as you might be having contractions but not really know. Have your waters broke? X

I think it’s because no contractions had started yet 😬

no my waters haven’t broken yet! I think I will call triage as it seems to be what everyone has suggested!

100% call triage, 4cm and beyond is established labour. Has your family (mum/sisters, etc) have any history in fast labours? I went from 4 to 10cm in 3 hours. X

totally agree! Have you got any slight back ache? Maybe you are having contractions and coping really well! I went from 4cm to baby being born within 50minutes yiu May have a quick labour xx

good luck! X

I called triage and they said to just put my feet up as it doesn’t sound like established Labour yet, I’m just hoping it’s not a rush to the hospital later as we live 30-40 minutes away! Thank you everyone for the advice! X

that shouldn’t matter, 5cm is active labour whether you’re feeling contractions or not.
