my baby is exclusively breastfed and i stopped eating spicy foods so it doesn’t upset my baby. but i’m missing spicy foods 🥲 wondering if anyone still eats spicy foods and breastfeeding and their baby is fine

Yes, the thought process to avoid spicy food while breastfeeding is mostly wives tale. Only very trace amounts of capsaicin will be passed through breast milk and unless your baby specifically has an allergy or sensitivity to what you eat it will not impact the health of your baby. There's is evidence to suggest that a varied palate/diet on moms part can be helpful for starting a babies palate in being used to different tasting breast milks which can be helpful when trying to get an older baby to eat new foods. Go on and get that spice mama

I do it all the time never had any issues. I could only eat spicy food during my first trimester.

My girl changed my palate during pregnancy. I once couldn't tolerate spicy food and wound up CRAVING it during 3rd trimester. I still love to eat spicy food and it doesn't bother her one bit.
