I have a 2.5 year old and im due in 3 weeks with my second. His behaviours has been very challenging for some time now and I think he might have ADHD. I've seen the pediatrician but they say he's fine and it's normal for kids his age to act out. When I see other children his age they don't act like him. He's constantly throws tantrums, or crys for whatever reason or just not listening, we always have to be disciplining him. He's also hitting others unprovoked or scratching and sometimes pushing. He doesn't listen no matter how much we tell him off of explain hitting is not ok, he would even say sorry but minutes later he does it again. I'm super drained and worried that he might hurt the baby or his behaviour would get worst. I get anxiety taking him around friends and families children because he hits them and im tired of people complaining about him plus it's not nice when it's always him been looked at as the naughty child. He also isn't potty trained, we tried in may and he was getting on well but stopped when my inlaws came to stay with us for 6 weeks now he doesn't even try to use it no matter what we do. He had the flush toilet and he loved it now he crys when I try to get him on it. He's also started to take milk at night again due to having his molars coming in but im worried that's building back the habit we struggled to get rid of. On top of this we're in the process of moving to a house as we're in a flat atm and bedrooms are upstairs. How would he get milk at night if he was suppose to wake for it. The thought of going down stairs to warm milk drains me. I do have my husband but he works 9- 5.30 mon- Friday and will need his rest. I just feel like a failure as a mother and think maybe I wasn't suppose to have children because im struggling and others seem to have stuff together.

Don't be so hard on yourself đź’• you're doing an amazing job! Sounds like there's a lot of changes going on, which could be why he's acting out, no one's fault really, it's just hard for two year olds to express their emotions. Have you tried speaking to your health visitor?
When baby is here, get him to help with some of the routines , such as passing you a clean nappy, it'll help for him to feel involved too as obviously there will be a lot of attention on the new baby.
I've recently had a preparing for baby class, The health visitor said to make sure you fit the baby around the toddler's routine and not the other way round as that can upset them too.
As with his behaviour, try to use positive reinforcement, so when you see him being gentle make a big deal about it, saying how much you like it when he is.
I personally would hold off on the potty training for now until things have settled with the baby. He'll learn in his own time, so don't feel pressured to get him out of nappies right away

Sorry if you've been told all this before.
I work in childcare and mainly work in the toddler unit, so I have a little understanding.

We didn’t start potty training my son until he had just turned 3yrs old. He then picked it up very quickly as he was ready. So firstly don’t stress about the potty training as 2.5yrs old is still young for potty training, especially with a boy. Give it another 6 months and you might find he picks it up much quicker.
You are absolutely not failing as a mother! We are struggling with my son hitting and kicking us too. He’s 3yrs old. Same as with you, he says sorry or runs away and says “I hate you” if he knows he’s hurt you, but he doesn’t learn as does it again 5mins later. Listening is also something he often doesn’t do! I think it is normal toddler behaviour to be honest. That really doesn’t make it any easier I know, but I wanted to reassure you that you’re not alone.

My toddler is struggling. He has a bad habit of throwing items that we are trying to stop. He doesn't understand his sister. I'm not even home yet, but he tries to climb in the cot. He has poked her when he's come close and tries to take her bottle. We are still here as she's struggling to feed. I think he's jealous and confused. I'm reassuring him, but until we home, I can't establish a routine that he's comfortable with. That's my number one priority.
Thank you ladies for reasuring me, I really thought maybe I'm not cut to be a mother or maybe I'm doing something wrong. ❤️

You’re not doing anything wrong. None of us know what we’re doing. I never feel confident in my abilities as a mother either. We’re all just winging it, and anyone who says otherwise is lying!
