being told you’re a bad mom

Partner and I got into a little agudment earlier bc he said he didn’t want to get involved with my family bc he just didn’t feel like it, he’s never liked being around them, doesn’t call them or talk to them at all; it’s like he really dislikes them; but on the other hand I get really well with his and have always made an effort to get to know them. Idk how the conversation started drifting but he said that his mom started making comments that we’ve been lacking our care with our daughter, she was sick for a couple days but I didn’t take her to the doctor bc everyone around me said she was probably just teething so I tried to convince myself it was that; I took her to the clinic finally bc she started getting a small rash but they didn’t see her due to lack of resources even though I was there all day; partner got home and insisted we take her to urgent care so we did and she finally got the attention she needed, which wasn’t much since she was feeling better but still. And then he said it :”it’s not my fault you’re a bad mom” and I swear I lost it. I told him he could say a whole bunch of crap to me but saying I’m a bad mom is crossing the line bc I’m trying my best with our daughter and he just kept saying it was true so I just left and locked myself in my room with my daughter who was already asleep. It’s been about 1 hr 1/2 and I’ve been crying nonstop, remembering every single moment where I struggled to take care of her; I swear my brain doesn’t want to work sometimes, like it just doesn’t. I try to do something but get distracted over something else and I force myself to do a basic task and struggle so much to do it; and then taking care of our daughter all day at home, the housework, food, appts etc I feel like my head just wants to explode. So I’m just accepting that I am a bad mom. Because a good mom wouldn’t struggle to take care of her own baby, she would make her healthy meals and always keep her happy and content and well loved.

You’re not a bad mom. You’re trying your best. He’s being toxic with the “not yours but mine “ situation. The idea of being a bad mom because you struggle is such a bad thing. You are a first time mom, it’s going to be hard, you will struggle, but eventually you will get the hang of everything so don’t beat yourself up. Don’t let his words get to you either, he doesn’t know what it’s like and he doesn’t understand how to raise a child. It’s obvious that you love your daughter, you care about her well being, and you aren’t ashamed to ask for help when you’re at a loss. Stay strong mama and you will get through this.

You are not a bad mom. I can’t imagine how it felt to be told that by him :( don’t take that on (you deserve better)

I’d make him do everything. Since you’re such a “ bad mom” you need to focus ALL your attention on your child. So if he’s hungry , HE can cook himself something. He needs clean clothes ? HE can wash them ? HE doesn’t like the mess in the house HE can pick up the house I mean it’s BASIC things a person should know how to do. And if he doesn’t know how? “ It’s not my fault you a grown ass man are incompetent of taking care of yourself “ he doesn’t like it ? Maybe he shouldn’t mistreat the mother of his child when he could have taken her when he got off of work ANY of those 3 days. And if he was too tired ? What a father he is 🙄 make him feel like shit the same way he made you feel. He wants to go low GIRLLL GO TO HELLLL !!!!

Thank you all for your comments and for taking time out of your day to be supportive; I feel loved and heard🩷 I’m definitely in need to setting some boundaries with everyone around me, I’ve always been the type to always accept what I’m given just to avoid any conflicts but now that my daughter is here I realize that needs to change

I didn’t see things like this now that you mention it; her whole childhood is literally in my hands, I need to make it the best I can with what I can; instead of sad scared memories I need to start making them happy and adventurous thank you🩷

I do not feel you are a bad mom.. every mom struggles. I struggle too and sometimes I feel like I'm a horrible mom.. but we are only humans and being on auto pilot can be overwhelming..
Your husband probably didnt even mean it and just said it in the heat of the moment. Xx

You are NOT a bad mom! I’ve recently had a struggle feeling like I was a bad mom and not deserving enough to be a mom. You have to trust yourself and believe you’re a good mom. Having the negativity in your mind will slow you down from being the best mom you can be! No matter what anyone says, as long as you believe it and confident enough to say “I am great mom and will continue to be a great mom” no one can stop you from being just that! They’re are always going to be struggles, but just keep doing what you’re doing and keep going! Hang in there mama! 🩷

Is this normal?

Is it just my husband that does this? He is able to work from home via his computer and in the mornings and evenings he is on there doing his job. When he is done for the day he tends to stay in the room and either play video games or watch something. He will occasionally come out and play with the girls for a few minutes and that’s it but when I really need him he says he is busy. My daughters are both 1 year old now and I am just wondering how much involvement should he have with them now?
Idk if this is the norm or not…..

Saying NO to buying toys etc

5 year old is getting really envious of others. He is obsessed with items that other kids have at school. I am pestered daily to buy these things in a different style when we already have 3 others. I have seen parents just buying stuff their kid likes which I don't necessarily agree with even when i can afford it. How do you deal with it?

Tablet for kids

Alright don’t need any negative Nancy’s telling me not to get my 2yo a tablet so if that’s what your gunna do please don’t participate in my poll.

We’re about to move cross country 3+ day trip and my 2yo and 9m hate the car I’m talking scream their heads off till they are out of their seats. We’ve already changed car seats and it didn’t help so I’d like to at least have one entertained and sit next to baby and try and distract her or put her to sleep. Our new car has tvs but since they are rear faced my 2yo can’t see it.

Debating getting her a tablet or dvd player right now on long car rides I end up giving her my phone because I get so overwhelmed sitting in between both of them screaming and crying.

And yes I do bring different toys I bring snacks I play songs try to distract her other ways but for the sake of not losing my mind on this move I think this is best.

-A very overwhelmed and anxious to move mama 😓

Daycare?

Thoughts on daycare?? Truly, I am SCARED to be leaving my kid for daycare. I literally do not trust anyone, not even family (they haven’t given me a reason it’s just trust issues on my end, you never know). He’s turning 3 and I’ve been a sahm the whole time but tbh my man doesn’t make enough for us to move out somewhere more calm . We live in a ‘not so safe’ area in LA and I’m just not used to living here so I just want us to give my son a better life and in order to speed up the process I would have to work.. I do lashes at home and I’d be open to take new clients so I wouldn’t have to look for work but I’m just scared to lose my license 😭

Hey everyone my baby is 5 months old and I want to reduce/cut screen time as I have read up on how bad it is what activities did people do to keep their baby entertained. Thank you in advance.
