Hi ladies, i just got my 20 week ultrasound and they’ve found a choroid plexus cyst. The lady that did the scan said they’re quite common but I know she can’t let me know if it’s anything to worry about. This is my second pregnancy & it didn’t happen in the first, I was just wanting some insight as to what it is & if any of you have had it before?
Photo of what they found for reference:)

Hi lovely, my daughter had multiple bi-lateral CP cysts at her 20 week scan - they had disappeared by 28 weeks :)
They are pockets of cerebral spinal fluid in the choroid plexus of the brain - primary area for producing cerebral fluid.
My OB advised they are within ‘normal anomaly’ and sometimes are reported and sometimes aren’t can just depend on the doctor who reports on the scans. They are nothing to worry about unless other abnormalities are identified also.
My OB said even if they don’t disappear by delivery they pose no issue to brain development and function. Hope this puts your mind at ease x

My second pregnancy had this at the 20w scan. It resolved itself by about 30w. It's nothing to worry about. Happens in about 2% of pregnancies.
My boy is now 2.5yo and such a smart, funny little guy.

I didn't have a cyst but my son was joined by a 16cm fibroid (non-cancerous tumour) in the womb - it sucked cos I was twin size and heavy and extra uncomfortable, but the doctors were so unphased. Cysts, like fibroids, are pretty common on female reproductive organs so if they reckon its normal, I wouldn't stress.
