Hi all! I’m new to the two under two game. My toddler is extremely active (like all toddlers, I know 😂). She’s down to about a 1 hour nap a day. I want to make sure both girls get some individual attention throughout the day while I’m out on maternity leave. We’re doing our best to create a routine, but that’s not always the way the day goes 😂 Anyone have suggestions?

Hi! We have twin boys and expecting a third (girl) a month before they turn 2. I am also nervous on how to make sure they 1:1 time. I usually try to be down on the floor/in the play area with them and know that being there is more important than 1:1 time. Jealousy and fighting constantly is very real! I am planning to have them try to be a part and helper with the new one.

So I will be straight with you and say that the first year is going to be really hard! My oldest was 15 months when my second was born, and there was a lot of aggression & violent behavior towards me and the baby the first year. We took my oldest to gymnastics twice a week to have a 1:1 activity with him and my husband took him to the park every day, but even with our efforts it took about a year for his anger and aggression towards the baby to subside. The worst was when I was nursing, because sitting there with the baby on my breast was the easiest target for my toddler to hit, slap, throw stuff, etc. Just do your best to engage with both but be realistic too. The first year can be SO hard but once the younger one can walk, play together, & stand up for themself a little bit, it’s so worth it and so wonderful.

Prepare for the worst, but hope for the best. Kids will surprise you every time.
I have two boys, and my eldest was 15 months old when his brother was born.
When we first brought the baby home, my eldest was so excited.
He would try to kiss the baby or talk to him, and then he would suddenly get aggressive and try to slap him.
This went on for a first few weeks, so we pretty much kept them separate and introduced them gradually.
Let them hang out for five minutes, then 10, and so on.
He stopped trying to slap his brother after a month.
My youngest is now five months and there is no aggression.
My eldest is so excited whenever he sees the baby. He greets him with a kiss and hug everyday.
He’s so gentle with the baby and even tries to calm him down when he cries.
So I think it depends on the demeanor of the child. My eldest was always very easy going and easy to soothe. Once he got over the initial hurtle, he became extremely adoring and gentle with his little brother.

Someone told me to buy a baby doll and practice with the baby doll. We did it. Our baby girl has been pretty much sweet at the beginning and is rough with him so we have to remind her to be gentle but I don’t think it’s aggressive.
