Would anyone recommend getting one of these? I’m just so paranoid to get my hopes up and keep wanting to go for private scans to just make sure everything is ok but I don’t really want to be spending £60+ every week on a scan!!

Honestly I feel it depends on the person i personally could never get one I’m 31 weeks and go in weekly due to anxiety also if your early on it isn’t definite you will be able to find baby’s heartbeat which I feel would stress some out a lot I was going to get one and my midwife told me I shouldn’t as it will affect my mental health too much but I’m a person that’s been affected years by it 🩷🩵

My midwife advised against it as she said it’s common people can’t find the heart beat and it causes even more anxiety.
I had a lot of anxiety in pregnancy and had a few private scans and I ended up calling maternity care unit as was worried about movement (towards the end) and they always told me to go in to get checked. It did get easier generally after I could feel movement though.
thank you for this. How do get to in weekly? Is that to the hospital? I’m so worried, I’ve had a miscarriage last year and I’m still really affected by that I think, I’m just so scared xx
yeah I’m hoping when I can feel movement I will feel better! X

My midwife told me to avoid them. She told me that they can cause undue anxiety and that she’s also known women to not go and get checked out when they should have because they used the home Doppler when they felt something was off and thought that they could hear baby and assumed all was okay when actually it wasn’t baby they were hearing x

ah yeah I second that about people not getting checked when they should have - my midwife told me that too as she said you don’t know what you are listening for. Forgot about that bit! X

I won’t lie it’s actually on my care plan for me to go to pregnancy assessment and be given reassurance due to how bad my paranoia and anxiety has gotten they feel I make myself believe there is something wrong but I have also been told even if I have a slight feeling something is off to go and get seen to you know your body best I also don’t feel movements as I should for my gestation so this is also accepted by the maternity team xx

I suffered terribly with anxiety as I had a miscarriage in may before I fell with this baby, so I bought a doppler at 14 weeks, I knew not to get my hopes up in case I didn’t find the heart beat (luckily I did) and sometimes it took me a little longer to find but it reassured me no end! I used it every few days as I didn’t want to rely on it too much but I stared to feel movement at 18 weeks so I hardly use it anymore (now 21 weeks) I think it’s all about personal preference and if you know you can tell yourself to not get worked up if you can’t find it 😊 I would always listen to mine first so I could tell the difference in sound to the baby’s which is always much much faster x
thank you so much for this. May I ask which one you used? I’m struggling to find them here in the UK x

I got it from Amazon, I’ve just looked and can’t find it on there ! Have you tried Facebook marketplace in your area ? X
