Im getting sick and tired literally exhausted of constantly doing all the nights because he “works” has anyone else been in this situation? He does other things for us but our baby wakes like 6 times minimum per night and in fucking exhausted 🥱 any tips he’s very sensitive too. Also just to clarify I’m on maternity leave but will be going back to work full time eventually so we don’t have “traditional” household set up.

Nights my partner is working the next day I do from when he needs to go to sleep for work, but on nights he’s off the next day he takes over as it would be too much otherwise, it’s not fair doing all of the parenting yourself, and if you take a step back that sounds like what you’re doing! You just need to approach him with it and to avoid misunderstanding maybe say that you’re not angry/upset or trying to start a fight before talking about it! It’s a conversation you need to have, before you get burned out and resent him
thanks however this view is too traditional and old fashioned for me. Men’s lives should change as well and unfortunately this set up will not work for me. He will be helping in the night as being a mum is a 24 h job that doesn’t stop. I will be fair and say he does once during the night. But thanks for your reply!

Ok he works so you do the lion’s share but every so often he needs to pull his weight.
Thankfully my partner tends to realise when I start getting really grumpy and cranky that he needs to give me a night off we normally then talk about it and plan it when he is not working the next day. That or he has been known when our little one was very small to do the early morning and give me a lay in and chance of have a shower in piece.
Just one night in a week or a fortnight can make a massive difference to you being able to function. X

One piece of advice a friend with 2 children gave me… when you have your child you WILL resent your partner in the beginning. Just accept it. I personally don’t feel like I do but that may be because my child is fairly easy going and I don’t struggle but it also may be because I expected to do most of it after what she said.
Unfortunately women have the maternal instinct and will look after the child most of the time and men can be useless. I’m not speaking on behalf of all men however the majority don’t do as much as the woman and they find it harder to as they don’t have that drive new mums do.
If you’re really struggling and he’s not recognising that and stepping up then have a serious chat with him about how you’re feeling but unfortunately like I say this is very common. X

It’s a bit different for me because we have twins but my husband (who’s out working full time) helps with feeding during the night - if he didn’t I most likely wouldn’t get any sleep at all. It’s so hard finding the right balance, but I don’t think your partner using the excuse of he’s working to avoid helping completely at night is right. It’s his child too, so even if he was to help with one feed/change during the night would probably help you out quite a bit.
I hate the assumption that because we’re at home with our babies every day that we get to rest. We don’t (well I know I don’t anyway!). Everything is amplified when we’re tired too so it’s not unusual for you to be absolutely fed up with the situation.
We can’t pour from an empty cup. I would sit your partner down and be honest with him. Tell him you need him to help you during the night whether he’s working or not. Even if it’s just once so you can get some sleep. It won’t kill him to miss like an hours worth of sleep 🤷🏻♀️.
