Baby boy born on Bonfire night 🔥 🍂🧡 TW: long labour and C-section

My baby boy, Eli Sebastian, was born on Sunday 5th November after 83-hours in natural labour (100% unmedicated) followed by an emergency c-section due to meconium in the waters and failure of the cervix to dilate. 83-hours of hard graft, and I did not get beyond 2-3cms of dilation and my contractions had totally stopped. I had planned a home birth and spent 2-days labouring at home before going to MLU, then labour ward, then theatre for the C-section. 💔
All of that, and I loved bringing my son into the world. I still got to use my fairy lights and utilise my hypnobirth techniques. ✨
He struggled with his breathing upon entering the world and we were in hospital for 5 days having antibiotics to clear the infection causing the issues. However, one week on, we are both happy, healthy, and loving being safe and well back at home. He is perfect and so worth it.
What happened to me could be seen as ‘traumatic’, yet I do not feel traumatised by it at all. The birth did not go to plan, but I was still able to use the breathing techniques, hypnobirthing, and everything I learned in antenatal and positive birth company classes. I made informed choices at every stage and felt in control of my choices even when my body and the labour was not in my control.
I’m not sharing to scare people. I am sharing because you can go through so much and your birth plan can go to shit in an instant, yet it is still possible to have a positive experience in a shitty situation.
My son is beautiful and healthy and here. It is not all that matters because I matter and my birth preferences mattered, but I am grateful and in awe of what my body has been through and what it is capable of. 👶🏻🤰🏻🤱🧡

Lovely to see after all that you went through you aren't focusing on anything as a negative. You gave it your all by the sounds of things to stick to plan A, B then C, just what hypnobirthing is about keeping in control. He's beautiful too x

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?

Induction or c section?

As a last resort, would you rather be induced or have a planned c section?

Really not liking the thought of being induced from people’s experiences I’ve read!

Almost 37 weeks + told to do another growth scan

I just had my second to last doctor’s appointment this morning, and my OB told me she wants me to do another growth scan because my belly is measuring small. She says it’s probably just because I’m a smaller woman, but they like to be safe. It’s hard to hear though, since I just did one a couple months ago.

I did this with my firstborn around this time of pregnancy, so I do think I just carry smaller (even though I don’t feel like I look “small” at all). My first baby was 6lbs 15oz when she was born at 41 weeks + 2 days. I’m having this baby at 39 weeks on April 7. I hope she’s still at least 6lbs.

Anyone have any stories similar to this?
