hey guys, so I have a friend that I been friends with my whole childhood. now, i’m having a baby and she doesn’t have any children. we are both in our early 20’s. i find myself getting irritated with her because she gives unwanted advice a lot.
i was going through baby father problems and then he changed for the better. i was telling her about how i had to get a stroller but it was the least of my concerns because my baby will be born in the winter and we won’t be going on walks or leaving the house for the first couple of months unless its for doctor appointments and we will be getting rides there. which means i have time to buy one.
she started giving her unwanted advice on how a stroller is necessities and i should get one because nobody wants to carry a carseat everywhere. it was irritating because i already stated that we aren’t leaving the house to go anywhere but appointments which we will be getting car rides there and it won’t hurt me to bring the carseat upstairs to the doctors office.
the next incident was, i bought my baby a cute christmas outfit and i decided to show it to her. she had the nerve to say “i don’t like that.. it’s not cute, don’t put MY baby in that.” i don’t know if she was joking but she tried to play like she was just kidding after she read the energy that I gave back.
the next incident was, i was in the hospital due to contractions. my child’s father couldn’t make it due to car issues, in fact i told him he doesn’t need to come unless i would be staying in the hospital. i ended up getting discharged 2 hours later but this girl would not shut up about how i was in the hospital by myself and how it takes 2 to make a baby. how it didn’t matter if i told him not to come he should of came. like she literally was mad as if she was the one in the hospital.
the last incident i want to speak on, is how she told me i need to facetime her after i gave birth. i tried to explain to her that communication with anyone is the least of my concerns after i just pushed my baby out and she was like “no, you have to call me” and then she proceeded to say how if i can’t call her, tell my baby’s father to call her… but she doesn’t even like him.
she also talks about my hair a lot, we are always on facetime and sometimes i don’t look my best. i am in my 9th month of pregnancy, always in pain & just don’t care about doing my hair. she often asks when im getting my hair done.
i don’t know if it’s my hormones or if she is trying to be a good friend and i just dont see it but i decided to turn my face time off today and i get induced next week. a lot of the things she has said or does makes me feel like she gossips about me to others. what advice do you guys have for me? what would you do if you had a friend like this. i don’t curse her out or anything, i try to laugh it off but i been rethinking our friendship lately.

She needs to let you breathe. If, she’s so worried about your hair tell her to do it.
I semi understand where she’s coming from about him being there even tho you told him he didn’t have to come… just to show support. All that other stuff… yeah, nah. Def wouldn’t FaceTime her after you’re exhausted from giving birth.
I understood where she was coming from. My child’s father lives 30 mins; but an hour bus drive (he would of had to take the bus if he came cause his car was having problems) so thats why I wasn’t really upset that he didn’t make it. But, i felt like she was dragging it out and trying to make me feel worst than I already felt being there by myself.

Yeah, she didn’t even have to do all that. She is too extra. She is stressing you out!

Damn, she’s like an overbearing MIL. Tell her to back off, man.
