Hi everyone!
We’ve been using the Ferber method on our 5.5mo for a week at bedtime and had a lot of success.
We’re wondering how / if we apply it to naps and if anyone has any experience with this? LO has never really had nap problems until about a month ago but now decided she hates sleeping during the day and we’re not having much success with Ferber method and naps but I read it can be different than at bedtime.
Any tips / guidelines? How/have you applied Ferber to naps?

We did a version of Ferber and did bedtime and naps at the same time. Naps are typically more difficult/take longer to get used to. We used the same process to go down for naps that we did for bedtime only so the a shortened routine before nap

if mom is sleep deprived and not in the mood for playing/stimulation that also will affect their development. That’s a tough one. I’ve tried all the gentler methods before Ferber. Literally TCB, pick up put down, the chair in the room, co-sleeping, even bed-sharing. Nothing worked. My 6.5 month old is now going to sleep on her own at bedtime and nap time with no crying. It only lasted 3 days for her to get used to and the longest we’ve let her cry was 7 minutes. Not all babies can go with other methods and my daughter deserves to have a happy mom with energy to play with her during the day. Each baby is different and whatever method the family chooses is the best for them. My daughter is happy in the mornings and doesn’t fight every nap. We play a lot and she knows I love her and I’m here for her. It’s not a CIO method which I’m not comfortable with. You’re allowed to soothe your baby and let them know you’re there but giving them the chance to figure out how to self soothe.

we do the same routine for naps and bedtime except for bath. It definitely took longer and it’s harder. What I did and still do is start the routine around 45 minutes so I use 15 minutes to feed/change/snuggle and then I put her in the crib around 20-30 minutes before the end of her wake window so she falls asleep on her own and I have 30 minutes to do the intervals. Also it prevents over tiredness. She’s now on a 2 nap schedule and I literally have to wake her up every time or she would keep sleeping. 10:30 to 12 and 3 to 4:30 with bedtime at 7:30. She wakes up at 7:30 am. Until 6 months she wouldn’t nap longer than 30 minutes and she would wake up 2 times per night. We’re so happy now! Good luck mama ❤️

Thanks ! We had a lot of success with bed time, only took 2 nights so I was wondering if we needed to do something different for naps!

from all the courses I’ve taken I learned that during the day they don’t produce as much melatonin as they do at night so it will always be harder and it’ll take longer. But you’ll be okay soon 🫶🏻

honestly! Having a quick 5/10 minute routine for a nap. Has CHANGED my life. My girl who has ALWAYS hated napping since 10w old had only napped 40 minutes at a time. Recently she started screaming the house down at nap time. Crying screaming at even being cradled .
Now when I notice her getting a little tired, I tell her it’s nap time. We go upstairs I’ll read a few pages of our book, doesn’t matter what. When she touches her eyes, I’ll put her down give her a kiss and read a few more pages. Then I walk out and she puts herself down for a nap. Which is for starters incredible, but then she slept for AN HOUR 15. 😭😭😭
I thought it was a fluke, but it worked again at her second nap. This was 3 days ago. Yesterday, she had almost a 2 hour nap. When I tell you, I feel like a new damn woman. Touch wood.

I feel like a new damn woman too LOL 😂

I blame my comment for the reason my daughter has been screaming over having to take a nap for the last hour 😤😤😤😤

number one rule of fight club is don’t talk about fight club!!!! 😂
