Not gaining weight

My LO is nearly 6 months old and for the last 2 months or so has not been gaining weight. She is otherwise growing and developing well, outgrowing her clothes, chubby cheeks, very alert and very active. She has been trying to crawl for the last month. The health visitor is as confused and said everything points to her being very healthy apart from the numbers on the scales. She is thinking of referring us to a paediatrician, as baby has dropped from 25th centile to under 9th.

Has anyone else’s baby been similar? Is it possible that my baby is so active that she is burning up all the calories (which is what our HV thinks is one possibility)? 🙈

thanks for sharing! I EBF too and it’s got me questioning whether she is getting enough/if there’s something wrong with my milk 🙁 but she does plenty of wet nappies and big poos, so she must be getting something from the milk! How long did yours go on for, before she started gaining weight again?

The HV didn’t recommend this as my breastfeeding is already established and baby is feeding well. LO was gaining weight well from day one and it’s only been recently in the last 2 months that her weight gain has stopped! Was yours at the start or after baby was a few months old?

this happened with my first baby! Slow weight gain at the start then away he went, proper chonkers after that 😅 Which is why I’m a bit surprised with my second baby - she gained weight well from the very first day and just really slowed down in month 4.

Hi. It happened to us too. My LO is exclusively breastfed and didn’t again any weight for 2 weeks when she was around 5 months old. After that she did gain, but not much at all. She’s also super active and been army crawling for a while now. The paediatrician wasn’t worried as she’s developing really well and happy in herself. I was worried at first but now I am trying to follow her cues more regarding feeding and just accept she’s just not a big eater (was born small and has always been on the bottom of the curve), which is absolutely fine.

In exactly the same position at the moment. Feeding well, looks healthy, been checked over by the GP and all looks good but not putting on weight.
We’ve seen HV twice and GP once. Have another GP app in 2 weeks so we’ll see what they say!

it really is strange isn’t it! I wasn’t too concerned at first but now I’m getting a bit worried about any underlying issues. Is your little one really active?

Avatar

this is reassuring, thank you! I’m glad the paediatrician thinks it’s fine as long as she’s happy and growing well. I am hoping with solids she will put on a bit more weight!

I’m hoping so too! So far she’s only having tiny bits in the best of times x

Hey I’m going through this now. Just wondered if you had any further findings or did baby just start putting weight on? I exclusively BF too and baby has barely gained weight for 6 weeks, waiting for a paediatrician referral now

Pregnant with baby 2

Hi everyone! I gave birth via emergency c section 9 months ago as my baby boy was measuring big, he pooped inside so there was risk of him inhaling it and I wasn’t progressing past 3cm to have a natural birth and now I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby. I’m having a consultation on Tuesday to talk about birth options and to have any questions answered but I don’t know what to ask. I feel like it would be safer having a c section again but at the same time I don’t want a c section. Does anyone have any question ideas I could ask or any advice/stories of similar situations. Tia

Planned c section

Has anyone had a planned c section and been home the same day?

I have a feeling like I might get attacked from this but I’m going to say it anyways. incognito 🥸 GLP1s being mainstream for regular people who are NOT diabetic or morbidly obese is bad for so many reasons 💉💉💉

Side affects, long term dependency, supply shortages and costs, regaining the weight back as soon as you get off them.. all that ASIDE how do people not see just from a zoomed out perspective how crazy it is. I can’t imagine being someone facing food insecurity in an underdeveloped country and watching westerners give themselves daily jabs so they can lose weight while still eating a calorie surplus/ crappy foods. It’s giving hunger games when district 12 Katniss finds out at the party at the capital that people eat and then take a pill to make themselves sick so they can 🤮 and eat some more. These ads running ozempic everywhere are disgusting, and then getting amazing athletes like Serena Williams to push them talking bout “i’ve never been healthier” girl you were an OLYMPIC athlete wym??

Getting pregnant after c section

When did you get pregnant again after a c section? Our plan was always to have 2 under 2 but that is now out the window because I had an emergency section. I know they say 18 months and we will be sticking to it (as much as I don’t want to) but I’m curious how quickly you got pregnant after your section?
