Hey, just a weird question. My OB sees me every 4 weeks until 36, and last time I saw them (at 30 weeks) they wouldn’t measure me or check heart rate. The only time any staff touched me was to do my vitals at the start of the appointment.
Just wondering if I’m right I’m thinking it is weird that they don’t do anything? My concerns were essentially brushed off despite me being pseudo high risk (high risk saw me and said I won’t be considered high risk until an actual complication arises although my past medical history makes me more prone to delivery complications and they highly recommend scheduling an induction early). They also won’t be doing any ultrasounds since the only one I got was a little late since I was a transfer patient at 24 weeks.
Unrelated but when I lost my mucous plug my job made me get checked out to make sure I wasn’t dilating (I wasn’t thankfully!) but they did the entire pelvic and digital exam without any lubrication and it was so painful 🥲 and the only thing they said after when I was in pain was ‘oh if you think that’s bad just wait until labor’.
I’m not excited for the rest of pregnancy and feel so unsupported by my OB/hospital system but I don’t really have much of a choice.

I'm currently 33 weeks and I was going in every like 4 5 weeks now im going to start every 2 3 weeks. When I would go in they really didn't do anything other than weigh and BP and they would use the doppler to check the baby's heartbeat and a urine test to make sure theirs no infection.
Them not using lubrication is super weird. And I only got like 3 or 4 ultrasound and my last one will be at 37 weeks.

There is a lot off about this situation! First, it’s standard practice to be seen every two weeks throughout the 3rd trimester and then weekly starting at 37 weeks. I’ve never heard of anyone being seeing every 4 at this point in pregnancy. Second, they should be measuring heart rate, position, and fundal height at every visit. That they aren’t is a huge red flag ESPECIALLY since you have some risk factors! Lastly, the way they handled your exam and their remarks to you are absolutely invalidating, uncaring and is frankly unacceptable. If I were in your shoes, I’d be filing a complaint. Is there any option to switch providers? Who your care providers are and how supported you feel makes such a big difference in birth that I might be worth driving farther to have a better experience. Alternatively you might consider looking into getting a doula so that they can be your advocate during birth.

💯

If you go in for a check for amniotic fluid they will not use a lubricant I've been in twice for that and it is super uncomfortable. The reason why as they explained it to me is they check the PH of any fluid inside of you and if they use lubricant it fucks with you PH and makes it higher, thus falsifying a positive for amniotic fluid. I would definitely speak with them about what Natalie said as they should be measuring those things every visit though, and yes you should be seen every 2 weeks not 4.

This whole post is red flags. I'd get a new OB stat. There's no point in staying in the "care" you're getting now.
