I’ve heard that once you have an epidural the baby and mom connection is no longer there and the baby’s left to deal with the contractions on their own and this made me so sad and not wanna have an epidural 😂😭 I have heard it does affect them and can “drug” them affecting their heart rate but shouldn’t be of concern as it’s only minor/minimal?

I believe so, the contractions help to move baby down the birth canal

My sons did but he got stuck in my cervix as it was closing back up instead of dialating so I can't say mine was epidural related as my mum had the exact same thing when delivering me and didn't have an epidural so it appears to be medical for us. But I haven't heard epidural cause it x

I got epidural and 8 hours later when I was pushing baby heart rate was dropping and not returning quick enough which resulted in me having cat 1 c-section. Baby was born not breathing

Epidurals can cause drops in blood pressure, especially boluses. I'm not sure on the effects on babies though.

I point blank refused an epidural eith my first as i needed to feel what was happening so baby could arrive when ready and your body automatically knows what to do with the epidural you cant feel what needs to be done x

I had an epidural and baby and myself were fine no drops in blood pressure or heart rate or anything like that

My baby’s heart rate dropped but only when I was lying in certain positions. When she was born, the cord was wrapped twice around her neck so this is likely to have been the reason in our case, not the epidural itself.

Had it twice and didn’t happen but everyone is different x

i had an epidural and ended up having a c section because he was too big to fit through my pelvis and was having drops in heartrate due to being stuck. so not due to the epidural! i loved the epidural and had zero problems with it. would definitely do again

I've never heard that and immediately was scared and did some research. I think it's just a wives tale with the epidural severing the bond. I found a study though that says epidurals actually improved the bond because of decreased risk of postpartum depression. There's a few other articles from reputable health publishers but this one was a whole study with citations
