Hey all, how do I get over the fear of BLW? I couldn’t do it very well with my first, now my boy is 6 months… I did try him on purées but he’s actually more interested in solids.
I gave him a rusk yesterday and honestly I panicked so much (inside) he gagged and was sick and I automatically stopped.
Does anyone have any advice? Thank you

I’m not an expert on it as we only started ourselves a couple of days ago and I was so scared too but the things I’ve found that helped: if you’re on Facebook join the group called ‘weaning the BLW way’ people are constantly posting meals on there for inspiration and you can also ask for advice on whether you’re serving something correctly/safely etc and also the solid starts app on there you can search a food and it tells you how to correctly serve it for babies age. They say if things are served as recommended then there is no more risk of choking than weaning with purées so I’ve just been using both of those and also just trying to stay calm by trusting in myself to do it and trusting baby has the ability, after all it wouldn’t be such a successful method if they weren’t able to x

For the first week or so we did soft foods like yoghurt, mashed avocado, mashed banana and mashed potato 🤣 then I did a few Ella's kitchen melty sticks. When I was confident we went on to omlette and now we've done all sorts! I just took a gradual approach. I'm also in the Facebook group mentioned above x
