Had my 1st app with midwife this morning and wow does it all feel real now!! This is my 3rd baby but a 13 year age gap so it’s massively different now. My last child was 9lb 14oz so apparently I know have to potentially do this glucose test depending on my blood results that were taken today.
She said I am low risk so has asked me to consider home birth? Has anyone here had a home birth before, give me some pros and cons! Also loving the fact because I am 35+ I have to wear the ever so sexy surgical embolism socks everyday 🙈😂
But all in all it finally feels real today 💙🩷

With a home birth you get the same midwife/midwives coming to your home for all your appts so you build up a good rapport. This is also amazing for when baby is born as getting out the house with a newborn and other kids in those early days can be a bit of a struggle, I had 5 appts in the space of 10 days all at home, which was a godsend! There are so many benefits to a home birth, in your own surroundings you feel more comfortable, no bright lights or loud noises, interruptions, unnecessary medical interventions. Look at the naked doula on instagram. I laboured at home but unfortunately after 18 hours had to go in to hospital as cord was round babies neck and he just wasn’t moving. I’m 20mins away from the hospital so this was fine - this will be a factor though. Im having a home birth this time round and really would encourage anyone who’s thinking about it to, I had such a lovely experience before and after even though I couldn’t deliver at home in the end. Congratulations xxx
