Odansetron for sickness

Does/has anyone taken Odansetron for pregnancy sickness. If so, does it work for you and is it worth taking? Other anti-sickness does not work for me and now that I’m past 12 weeks this has been prescribed. I’m 14 weeks and thinking about holding out to 16 weeks and then if it still hasn’t passed then I’ll start taking them. I need to get back to some sort of normality after 8 weeks of severe nausea/sickness.

thank you. I have heard it’s good and the nurse said it’s like gold 🤣 I have constipation anyway so I’m used to that. I’m trying to hold out as I don’t like taking any medication but it’s getting to the point now where I need to get my life back on track. My nausea is constant!

I’ve just started today after trying everything else and I feel like a new woman!!! Really recommend!

that’s really good to know. How have you been feeling prior to the tablets?

This was the only one that worked for me

I’ve been so unwell. Sick between 3-5 times a day. Haven’t been at work since week 5! I’ve literally gone from throwing up all over myself yesterday to doing a food shop and cooking dinner today. Mental!

I’m no longer pregnant but I was given this with my second and omg its life changing I went from throwing up water to eating food in the space of hours when they gave it me in hospital

glad your on the mend now. I’ve been off work for 8 weeks. Hearing you ladies say this is giving me hope. Thank you x

This was a life saver for me! Struggled with other anti sickness medication until 24 weeks - they either stopped working or made me really drowsy, ondansetron honestly gave me my life back, it allowed me to function again z

I went on it after trying everything else and multiple hospital stays. It definitely made me feel better but didn’t completely take away the sickness. I took it at 8 weeks right up to like 20 weeks xx

Avatar

what stage did you ending up taking it until?

Avatar

doctors says it’s safe after 12 weeks x

Avatar

sorry, you can take it before though but there’s tiny risk involved x

I don’t know to be honest. I know im being over the top I just hate the thought of medication when I’m pregnant. It worries me with side effects.

Avatar

Cyclizine didn’t work for me either. This is a different medication. X

Avatar

so sorry your feeling like this. It’s still early days for you if your only 8 weeks. It will pass ❤️

Avatar

I know, I haven’t read anything that says there is risk to the baby after 12 weeks. Im also worried about the fact that when I start it I won’t actually know when I’m ‘better’. If that makes sense 🤣

Avatar

I took it everyday until 30 weeks then was able to gradually reduce it and came off it fully by 33 weeks. We’ve got a family history of HG and severe morning sickness which the midwife said is probably why the nausea and vomiting lasted so long x

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!
