IVF pregnancy: 39-week Induction?

Is anyone pregnant through IVF having their OB recommend potential early induction because they conceived through IVF? I’m learning it’s not the standard of care but seems to be the recommendation of my OB. Just curious what other people are considering around that.

Some obs will want you to be induced because it’s better for them not because it’s better for you or baby. I’ve not gone through ivf so I’m not sure if it is normal to be induced for that reason but if you’re seeing it’s not normal there’s definitely no rush to just to scheduling. I personally wouldn’t recommend an induction unless it’s absolutely necessary and unless you have a medical condition that can cause issues with carrying full term that’s already diagnosed there’s no way to tell this early if an induction will be necessary. Do your research and make the best choice for you and baby when the time comes

Thank you. That’s kind of my thought process as well. Luckily I some time to think it over and talk to my OB more.

This pregnancy is an IVF one. My OB said I could have the option to induce at 39 weeks or they would recommend it if there are any complications. But ultimately, there’s no real reason for it unless there is a legitimate medical reason as you get closer to your due date.

That’s helpful, thank you. :)

Inductions I’ve heard is far more painful and complicated (potentially) because it isn’t naturally done. I’d recommend only doing induction if it’s necessary because baby is late or there is an issue at that very moment requiring it. My friends mom had an induction no pain medication either and she said she’d never do it again. Not to scare or anything but I say definitely do your research and talk with other obs to get a second or third opinion before just trusting everything your doctor says. It’s good to have a trusting relationship with your doc but it’s also important to be very scrutinizing before just fully trusting everything your told.

anytime! I know a few people with IVF pregnancies who were induced due to high BP. None of the inductions actually worked and ultimately ended up with a c-section.

I wasn’t an IVF pregnancy but we induced at 39 weeks because my doctor nor I wanted to be in the hospital on my actual due date if baby came. It was nice not guessing am I actually in labor or not, did my water just break, if I go to the hospital for contractions are they doing to send me home and as soon as I get there have to come back?! I had an epidural so I only felt contractions for an hour and it was like bad period cramps. Everything went like clock work and I’d do it again just to know what’s happening and when.

I have an ivf baby. I will be having a c-section due to medical reasons.

I’ve never heard induction being needed for ivf babies. I think it’s just more convenient for the doctor so they can schedule and not have to be as on call.

I would def get a second opinion. Ask your doctor how specifically does it being IVF you need to be induced unless medical concerns that are actually life threatening to you &/or baby. But I wouldn’t see how the 2 relate off bat. If you don’t think it’s necessary don’t let them push it on you. I was unnecessarily induced by my own choice with my first baby and it was hell. So I personally would def only agree with it ever again if it was life or death.

I am 20 weeks with an IVF pregnancy…I have heard similar things about early induction due to weak placentas with IVF pregnancies, but when I have asked my OB’s and MFM they said that it will be based on NSTs starting at 36 weeks…I was told that I will not deliver past my due date, but that is related to my age, not the IVF. I would ask their reasoning and ask more questions about their standards of care.

Thank you. I believe that’s the general reasoning I just need to have a more in-depth conversation with them to feel better about it. I’m 17 weeks so I have some time to figure it out :)

Pregnant with baby 2

Hi everyone! I gave birth via emergency c section 9 months ago as my baby boy was measuring big, he pooped inside so there was risk of him inhaling it and I wasn’t progressing past 3cm to have a natural birth and now I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby. I’m having a consultation on Tuesday to talk about birth options and to have any questions answered but I don’t know what to ask. I feel like it would be safer having a c section again but at the same time I don’t want a c section. Does anyone have any question ideas I could ask or any advice/stories of similar situations. Tia

I have a feeling like I might get attacked from this but I’m going to say it anyways. incognito 🥸 GLP1s being mainstream for regular people who are NOT diabetic or morbidly obese is bad for so many reasons 💉💉💉

Side affects, long term dependency, supply shortages and costs, regaining the weight back as soon as you get off them.. all that ASIDE how do people not see just from a zoomed out perspective how crazy it is. I can’t imagine being someone facing food insecurity in an underdeveloped country and watching westerners give themselves daily jabs so they can lose weight while still eating a calorie surplus/ crappy foods. It’s giving hunger games when district 12 Katniss finds out at the party at the capital that people eat and then take a pill to make themselves sick so they can 🤮 and eat some more. These ads running ozempic everywhere are disgusting, and then getting amazing athletes like Serena Williams to push them talking bout “i’ve never been healthier” girl you were an OLYMPIC athlete wym??

Getting pregnant after c section

When did you get pregnant again after a c section? Our plan was always to have 2 under 2 but that is now out the window because I had an emergency section. I know they say 18 months and we will be sticking to it (as much as I don’t want to) but I’m curious how quickly you got pregnant after your section?
