My toddler was just eating a conference pear, he loves them but usually eats them to the middle and then gives it to me. I was sat with him but looked away and when I looked again I noticed he had eaten the middle bit and he gave me the two ends of the pear.
I’ve never eaten seeds in fruit like this so googled whether it was okay and I’m now so scared! It says that they contain cyanide and can be very dangerous!
Has anyone does this? Please tell me it’s only in extremely large quantities that it’s a problem and he will be fine!

It’s a very small amount so he’d have to eat a lot of them to get sick. I’m sure he’ll be fine x if he shows symptoms like being sick, tummy ache etc then take to the gp/call 111 though
Thanks so much for that! I’ll keep an eye on him and will make sure he doesn’t do it again!

My eldest has been eating the core from a young age - no stopping her. She has always been fine x
that’s reassuring, thank you!

me and my mum both eat the whole pear everyone thinks it’s weird 😂 I’ve heard about the cyanide thing but I think you’d have to eat an entire pile of seeds to be poisoned

Omg I ate sooooo many pips as a kid! I actively used to eat them. I’m fine 😂 it’s a large quantity needed for any side effects.
