Snacks for hospital bag - UK

In the uk they recommend you take snacks for mum and partner. Any recommendations of what kind of stuff to take?

All I have so far is jelly babies 😂 so I’d definately like to know what other people have packed too x

Flapjacks, protein bars, fruit, sports drinks, sandwiches if you have time to make them

I'm taking some honey mustard pretzels, porridge bars, squeezy juice for the water, peppermint tea bags and dried fruit (I'm booked in for a section so will be having prunes). Not sure if I'll get anything else yet x

What ever makes you happy ! Lots of juices as you’ll be under observation so it always helps being super hydrated :) xx

yeah the squash squeeze stuff is a really good shout !! Xx

it’s soooo hard to even think of any non perishable snacks that are healthy, except nuts, which our hospital don’t allow 🙈 I’m planning for cereal bars, popcorn and then chocolate, crisps, biscuits 🤣

I've packed 2 different types of cereal bars, sweets, chocolate, tinned pineapple, and some lucozade sports. Some other ideas are things like rice cakes, crackers, popcorn, biscuits etc

Avatar

I'm taking lucozade sport and have shortbread and crackers packed, will also through some fruit in there as well.
Our hospital is super warm so might bring some chocolate or get someone to pick me some up

I’ve packed cereal bars, fruit pastilles, squashed, and individually wrapped pain au chocolates! So far anyway !

I’ve packed my snacks about 8 times and every time I keep digging in them and having to go back to Tesco and replace 🙈 but I have lucozade, cereal bars, crisps, nuts (for my partner), chocolate, popcorn and then I’ll ask my mum or partner to grab some fruit pots and anything that might go out of date between now and then whilst I’m actually at the hospital xx

I salute all those pregnant ladies that can show restraint but that just isn’t me 🤣

I got twixs, a couple of packs of crisps, haribos packed. Getting some water and lucozade (never had it before but was actually recommended by my midwife). Probably will pick up some pastries and take some fruit and sandwiches on o it way to the birthing centre.

My sister reccomended the giant chocolate buttons. Place one on your toungue beginning of a contraction and then let it melt and think about the chocolate, she said it'll last the length of a contraction and was a distraction.
Im going to try it 🤷‍♀️

Avatar

I have these packed!! I also heard about doing this with fruit pastilles, try not to chew it, takes your mind off the contractions! And doing as a competition with your partner! xx

Avatar

I’ve got cereal bars, cheddar biscuits, fruitellas, I was then planning to get some dried apricots (prefer them to prunes! And a better effect for me) I’ll probably get some other snacks, oh and I have a little squeeze squash

Avatar

Just a question that confuses me a little, are you allowed to have eaten if you end up having emergency c section? I see things about not being able to eat for elective but how does that differ from emergency xx

Avatar

. Our midwife said it’s fine, as your body actually needs the energy to have go through the labour part first and then recover! x

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

Day out after c section

Hey,
I had an emergency c section 1 week ago I obviously don't want a day out right now but I have things booked for the Easter holidays so in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if I will be overdoing it if I have a day out then or will I be ok? I would still take it as easy as I could. When did everyone feel good enough to go out?

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!
