Baby waking earlier?!

So my little one is suddenly waking up between 4:30-5:30 each morning, when it was previously between 6:30-7… bedtime hasn’t changed, naps haven’t changed…he’s just waking earlier and although it’s not the end of the world, it’s really really annoying

He barely makes it to bedtime most nights so moving that later isn’t an option unfortunately, he’s not cold because the heating is on from 3:30 and he’s in the warmest room. He’s not just waking for a feed either, he’s fully awake and ready to start the day 😭

Any ideas on how I can get him to stop waking so early??

How old is your LO and how much day time sleep is bany getting ?

Avatar

He’s 5 months, has 4-5 30-45min naps throughout the day, wake windows 1-1.5hrs can sometimes stretch to 2hrs but doesn’t affect naps or night sleep either way. Has been like this for months and still slept 11-12 hours a night, has never woken before 6 so can’t see what the cause would be now

It sounds like he’s maybe napping too much during the day. Mine gets 3-4 30min naps and wake windows are about 2 hours maybe a bit more. Might be worth seeing if dropping a nap helps? :)

I would recommend dropping a nap and extending wake windows. I understand that nothing has changed however babies do need a change the older they get. For 5 to 6 months recommended wake windows are 2 to 3 hours. Usually shorter in morning and longer by afternoon. And naps are 3 to 4 naps a day. With this said.. Day time sleep being 2.5 to 3.5 hours. Hope this helps.

The only issue is he gets tired so quickly and just cries until I put him down for a nap, like I said I can sometimes stretch it to 2 hours but anything more than that and he just cries! He’s always had shorter wake windows than “recommended”- up until the last month or so he could only do 45mins-1hr!

Might be going through a growth spurt. This usually last just over a week.

Mine has been doing the same too... then you can't cut naps as they are too tired. She's always had really short wake windows but recently has been extending them. Hoping to drop a nap soon but she's not quite ready x

I think I’ve cracked it - over the Christmas period we were so busy that my boy was only having really short naps and I was just letting him whenever he was tired…turns out he’s been having 6 naps a day since the 27th!!! I didn’t even realise 😩 he started waking up earlier on the 28th and from then on has had an extra nap in the morning because of the early starts, and a danger nap at like 5/6pm to make it through till bedtime😅 so today I’ve stretched out his wake windows, he’s had 5 naps and he’s going nowhere near that cot until bedtime at 7pm. Wish me luck as he’s already grumpy at 6:22🤣

Baby clothes

Just out of curiosity, why do parents love zipper onesies?

Don’t get me wrong, I tried zipper ones it’s easy to zip in and out when putting it on the first time and taking it out, but I find it difficult when changing diapers especially when baby is asleep.

I prefer those kimono style buttons where it’s easy to button or too down button with crotch snaps.

Is everyone thinking the same or different? Lol

Dummy

My baby has had a dummy since about 2 weeks old (now 5 months) and over the course of the last month we weaned her off it during the day only for naps and night (which was fine) and then 5 days took it completely away during the day.

The first day no dummy was fine, the second bit rougher. But now it feels impossible she just moans and cries all the time it takes ages for her to go down to sleep (she’s always been an amazing sleeper)

I thought it was meant to get better as time went on not worse. I’m at my wits end I dunno what to do.

Currently typing this as she screams uncontrollably in the car and I cry with her cos I can’t do anything.

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.

Is this normal?

My 12m old is really funny with kids going near him, he’s always been this way, but anytime family’s kids sit next to him or head his way he moans or cries and moves away. He also really observes them and is never really relaxed, always looking over his shoulder. Has anyone experienced this? (He’s starting nursery properly tomorrow so hoping this helps) but is this normal?

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅
