Day time naps

My little boy is 16 weeks and outgrowing his moses basket, in terms of size and that he's so active I'm worried he might tip it!
As well as napping we use it as a place to pop him down safe off the floor for a few minutes away from our cat.
Any recommendations for what we could use instead? A playpen for putting him in downstairs and naps upstairs in big cot? travel cot downstairs? Something else?

We use a travel cot so we have the option to put it down if we want too (we don’t really though!😂) works well for us x

We just got a Next2Me off Facebook market place as our 16 week old has just outgrown his crib too! We used the one from the pram so have also had to upgrade that to the seat now too. The Next2Me definitely has more room but isn't really as transportable so we've started doing all his naps upstairs in the bedroom, but have found this has helped him go down anyway. The only annoying thing is the advice is for them to sleep in the same room up to 6 months so it does kind of naptrap me in the bedroom

the 6month rule is for overnight sleeping.. daytime naps upstairs with a monitor are fine. Our lg has been going upstairs to nap since she was 8wks old as she’s too nosey downstairs so doesn’t sleep x

I believe the 6 month rule is all naps http://https//www.lullabytrust.org.uk/safer-sleep-advice/room-sharing/

Agreed that the 6 month advice from Lullaby Trust is for all sleep but of course parents should do whatever they are comfortable with

my boys always had a next2me upstairs in our bedroom for nights but naps in the moses downstairs (if he's not on me or out in the pram). Like you I'm not keen on being stuck upstairs until he's 6 months!

We have a day crib in our living room for my 3 month old. Shes a very long girl, grew out her moses basket too early and i still needed her down for naps near me whilst i play with 2 year old

I apologise for giving incorrect guidance. I’ve just always put my babies upstairs to sleep for naps and bedtime once they’ve outgrown the moses basket. We do keep them in our room till at least 6 months though usually longer. I’d never get anything done if they don’t sleep upstairs and they’d never get any sleep. I suppose every parent does what is best for them.

Yeah of course everyone does what is best for them x Tbh my boy doesn't sleep longer than 30 mins in his moses downstairs and generally has to be walked in the pram anyway 😅

Baby clothes

Just out of curiosity, why do parents love zipper onesies?

Don’t get me wrong, I tried zipper ones it’s easy to zip in and out when putting it on the first time and taking it out, but I find it difficult when changing diapers especially when baby is asleep.

I prefer those kimono style buttons where it’s easy to button or too down button with crotch snaps.

Is everyone thinking the same or different? Lol

Dummy

My baby has had a dummy since about 2 weeks old (now 5 months) and over the course of the last month we weaned her off it during the day only for naps and night (which was fine) and then 5 days took it completely away during the day.

The first day no dummy was fine, the second bit rougher. But now it feels impossible she just moans and cries all the time it takes ages for her to go down to sleep (she’s always been an amazing sleeper)

I thought it was meant to get better as time went on not worse. I’m at my wits end I dunno what to do.

Currently typing this as she screams uncontrollably in the car and I cry with her cos I can’t do anything.

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.

Is this normal?

My 12m old is really funny with kids going near him, he’s always been this way, but anytime family’s kids sit next to him or head his way he moans or cries and moves away. He also really observes them and is never really relaxed, always looking over his shoulder. Has anyone experienced this? (He’s starting nursery properly tomorrow so hoping this helps) but is this normal?

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅
