Anyone else embracing contact napping and co-sleeping?

I see lots of posts about trying to get babies into cribs and cots etc., but is anyone else just going with the flow and embracing the contact?

I'm a FTM so not sure if there's something I'm missing, assuming all safe sleeping guidelines are being followed.

We contact nap all day but he sleeps well in his next to me at night xx

I contact nap and co-sleep. I couldn’t breastfeed without co-sleeping tbh!

@Rebecca have you used thr next to me since day 1? At 9 weeks I'm wondering if we've gone too far to change now!

same!

He's 14 weeks & just getting a bit big for it lol, we'll move his cot in soon and keep our fingers crossed he sleeps in it x

Yes both. But I have a 2yr old too, so unlike when he was a baby and I could just enjoy the snuggles and have him co-sleep&contact nap all the time I’m finding it much more difficult this time round..
I’m having baby sleep in the sling most of the day but it’s killing my back. She hates going down in a cot so I’ve given up a bit for now. It’s hard to play with my toddler whilst constantly holding the baby though. Especially when he needs picking up himself…
Baby will sleep independently when your both ready. You will never be a first time mum again it all goes very quickly enjoy the cuddles x

Yes for contact naps! LO had her vaccines on Wednesday so she's been sleeping on me all day!

My LG decides she didn't want to contact nap any more. For the first few days I loved having my hands free, but now I wish she would maybe do one a day so I can have cuddles haha!

I contact napped and bed-shared with my eldest and at age 6 she still comes in our bed at some point in the early hours of the morning. We just got a super king sized bed to accommodate her. My 12 week old naturally sleeps well in his next to me and has long naps in his pram and is starting to nap in his next to me.

@Jodie with your eldest did you try to transition her to her own space?

Avatar

@Nicole ah the back pain with a sling is real :( when did your first start sleeping independently?

Avatar

Yep. He still Co-sleeps with my partner in the spare room. He wakes multiple times a night still so we don’t think he’s ready to be alone, he’s 2yr2mo. All three of us slept together until I was 38wks pregnant, now I’m with our baby.
He has one nap a day if he is really tired, happily on the sofa with a bottle!

Yes we tried many times even until recently, but she was waking multiple times in the night because she didn't want to be alone. I think it got worse when baby came along, because we are all together and she was on her own in her bedroom.

We were contact napping constantly until she was about 10 weeks, then she finally started liking her moses basket so she sleeps in there at night and we still do most of her naps as contact naps in the day

I let my daughter contact nap on me most times in the day, unless I really need to do something. It just seems she wakes up as soon as I put her down. A couple times recently she’s managed to stay asleep in her Moses basket or on the sofa (with someone supervising her the whole time). She normally goes well down at night, but sometimes is fussy, but then in the morning we do a small nap together in bed after one of her feeds (following guidelines of course). Otherwise she seems to not go back to sleep, and if I wake up then I feel like a zombie all day 😅

I contact nap in the day and she sleeps and goes down beautifully in her crib at night. Definitely embracing it. Yes it has its cons I.e you struggle to get things done but our little ones won’t be little forever and they won’t want to cuddle us and be this close to us forever. I do love watching her sleep on me and her smile when she wakes up and sees me 🥰🥰🥰

We contact nap in the day 90% of the time and my little boy sleeps really well in his Moses basket at night! Hoping it stays the same way when we move him to his next to me once he’s outgrown his Moses basket 🙈🤞🏻

Baby clothes

Just out of curiosity, why do parents love zipper onesies?

Don’t get me wrong, I tried zipper ones it’s easy to zip in and out when putting it on the first time and taking it out, but I find it difficult when changing diapers especially when baby is asleep.

I prefer those kimono style buttons where it’s easy to button or too down button with crotch snaps.

Is everyone thinking the same or different? Lol

Dummy

My baby has had a dummy since about 2 weeks old (now 5 months) and over the course of the last month we weaned her off it during the day only for naps and night (which was fine) and then 5 days took it completely away during the day.

The first day no dummy was fine, the second bit rougher. But now it feels impossible she just moans and cries all the time it takes ages for her to go down to sleep (she’s always been an amazing sleeper)

I thought it was meant to get better as time went on not worse. I’m at my wits end I dunno what to do.

Currently typing this as she screams uncontrollably in the car and I cry with her cos I can’t do anything.

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.

Is this normal?

My 12m old is really funny with kids going near him, he’s always been this way, but anytime family’s kids sit next to him or head his way he moans or cries and moves away. He also really observes them and is never really relaxed, always looking over his shoulder. Has anyone experienced this? (He’s starting nursery properly tomorrow so hoping this helps) but is this normal?

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅
