Someone gave my kiddo a book about god. She’s only 2. I put it away but she found it and my husband got upset with me when I took it away and hid it again.
Am I wrong for that? For wanting her to develop a bit before we introduce the idea of deities and gods who watch over her? I have no problem with religions. I myself am not religious but it was crammed down my throat when I was little. I was terrified of the man in the sky watching me and my family I remember that so clearly and no one would let me ask questions and when I did I was told to hush. God doesn’t like it when you question faith.

I don't think it's a big deal and I'm also a non believer. It's good for kids to be exposed to all the various beliefs. Maybe get a pagan, Islam, Judaism, etc books as well and rotate them so it's not focusing on a single book or belief.
The kid versions are usually innocent little stories and if she isn't taught it as truth, she should be fine.
you have a very good point. Being exposed to various beliefs is absolutely fantastic way to meet in the middle. I suppose I just need to swallow my distaste of the past and the way it was shoved at me and give my kiddo an opportunity to learn about it in a better way than I did. Thank you so very much for your input and advice.

I understand. Religion was shoved down my throat too. This is what I did with my kids and none are believers (they're older). You're welcome for the advice. 😊

I am a non believer too and grandma really wants my daughter to learn about religions and I see no problem with that. I prefer her feeling safe to ask me questions than to go to other people for answers
that’s absolutely amazing point too. The safety of being able to ask mum and get an answer.

I didnt like the way the older generation taught it but now that iv learnt about spirituality myself I find it can be very empowering. Most religions started off preaching truth and then everything gets muddled up when humans decide to use religion to serve their own purposes. Just my 2 cents

However, its all very interesting.
