Yum yum sippy cup (from amazon)

Does anyone know how to get my baby to drink water from this sippy cup? My baby can’t suck through this straw, I tried and I can’t either! Unsure if it’s defective or normally that difficult...very odd

Can you see through the straw? Some straws have a valve which makes it harder to suck through. Xx

Try the tommee tippee sippy cups. We initially had the same as yours but she is unable to drink from there as well and we came across the tommee tippee trainer cups and she learned drinking through that. :)

It just seems like such a waste... why would you sell a cup that babies can't drink out of? 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ thanks everyone!

It is recommended for babies to drink from a soft straw - with no valve or an open cup. Prolonged use of hard spout cups can cause issues with speech and teeth development.

A lot of cups you can cut the valve part out of the straws and then use easily. The Tum Tum cups are brilliant and not too expensive either xx

My one of those is the same!! I think it’s the silicone valve inside the straw. I haven’t tried yet but I wonder if you used nail scissors you might be able to fit them inside the straw and cut it away?

Highly recommend a tum tum cup instead. We had one like yours then switched and she loooooves it

PS. So the tommee tippee was i believe what taught her that it needs to be sipped (its a free flow cup) and that it needs tipped for water to come out. She is now able to drink from an open cup and a soft straw. :)

How do you teach babies to drink from this we are still using a bottle xx

my daughter just sort of got it to be honest but she has a ways been good at things like that, she sucks the end of the syringe when getting medicine too 😅
But I have seen people put a little bit of yogurt on the end of the straw to encourage them to suck it, then they taste the water and realize what to do

£1.50 tommie tippe would have been easi from boots

Thankyou I’ll try that. I gave her one once a few months ago and she sucked too much so started coughing and just stressed me as I didn’t want her choking on it. I need to re try it. What one do you suggest? The straw or the beaker style? Xx

Avatar

thank you will try this. I have been told honey is really toxic for under ones so I’ll try the yogurt xx

My lo only started drinking through a straw Xmas Eve, at just shy of 9 months. I ended up trying to shove yoghurt down the straw so he’d have to suck to get the yoghurt out, that seemed to work. We use a weighted straw cup (same as pink/purple pictured) but I’ve cut out the valve. We also have a B&M one and a fred&flo Tesco one - both cheap and valve free they’re great

yes, no honey til 1 so yogurt would be the best option for you. Hope it helps :)

Baby clothes

Just out of curiosity, why do parents love zipper onesies?

Don’t get me wrong, I tried zipper ones it’s easy to zip in and out when putting it on the first time and taking it out, but I find it difficult when changing diapers especially when baby is asleep.

I prefer those kimono style buttons where it’s easy to button or too down button with crotch snaps.

Is everyone thinking the same or different? Lol

At this point I’m not enjoying motherhood

My 22 month old is horrendous at the moment🫣 biting, hitting, pushing, pulling and shoving not only adults but children he also wants what other children have and will just snatch it away from them.

We repeat ‘nice hands’ ‘be gentle’ ‘let’s share’ etc

But how do I make him understand what he’s doing isn’t very nice? At the end of the day I feel like I’ve just been saying his name all day and nothing else.

What can I do?

Dummy

My baby has had a dummy since about 2 weeks old (now 5 months) and over the course of the last month we weaned her off it during the day only for naps and night (which was fine) and then 5 days took it completely away during the day.

The first day no dummy was fine, the second bit rougher. But now it feels impossible she just moans and cries all the time it takes ages for her to go down to sleep (she’s always been an amazing sleeper)

I thought it was meant to get better as time went on not worse. I’m at my wits end I dunno what to do.

Currently typing this as she screams uncontrollably in the car and I cry with her cos I can’t do anything.

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.

Is this normal?

My 12m old is really funny with kids going near him, he’s always been this way, but anytime family’s kids sit next to him or head his way he moans or cries and moves away. He also really observes them and is never really relaxed, always looking over his shoulder. Has anyone experienced this? (He’s starting nursery properly tomorrow so hoping this helps) but is this normal?
