Serious question here. How do I prevent myself from drowning in milk when I am sleeping? My LO is 6 weeks old and eating every 3-4 hours at night, as recommended by my dr. However, there are times when I will literally leak all night long.. I take this as i have an oversupply, so I’ve been making sure to pump while I’m feeding so both breasts are empty. But now I have to do an extra pump of both breasts in the middle of the night. I did order these collector things you put in your bra, hoping that’ll work better. But do you have any other recommendations?

Following because same. I leak most the day and all night and he'll be 7 weeks tomorrow

The collectors typically have a slit in the top to pour out of that do not make them suitable for wearing while lying down. I would recommend thick breast pads or doubling up on breast pads.

You'll eventually regulate but the more you pump at night the more you'll produce!

so you’re saying that it’s counterintuitive to pump if you’re not trying to pump more?

Avatar

@Carley yes! I have a manual pump and I try to just pump to comfort rather than empty in the middle of the night.

I used to have this problem too! It has started regulating a bit recently (at 9 weeks) but I still leak a lot. I second using breast pads. I also laid down a towel under me and a towel over me at night to absorb the milk.

You have to be really careful with pumping if you have an oversupply! Basically if you stimulate milk to come out, it tells your body it needs to keep producing more to meet that “need” even if it’s just caused by the pump not the baby nursing, and it can lead to a cycle of continued/worse oversupply. 😩 highly recommend using the passive collectors that just sit in your bra (like the Haakaa ladybug) to collect the extra milk from the other breast while nursing rather than pumping. Those will collect what leaks out but don’t trigger more milk to be produced.

the ladybug collectors will be in Friday! I am trying to create a stockpile, but I’d rather do that during waking hours, not in the middle of the night lol

but if you don’t pump to empty do you ever end up with clogged ducts? I have one breast that seems to always end up with a clogged duct

I've been taking lecithin to help prevent them!

definitely avoid the middle of the night pumping if you can then! Just be aware that if you’re pumping during the day with each feed also, you may keep having this problem at night haha. Also second the sunflower lecithin! If you feel a clog coming also icing a lot helps.

I noticed that when I used my travel/cordless pump- Elvie- I had an oversupply. So I switched to my spectra and found that it regulated out

Do men really enjoy fellatio?

Been together more than 10 years, but it's been a while since he even seemed remotely interested in me getting on my knees, or vice versa so to speak. I think it was once last year. Must be something I am doing wrong 🤔. Generally everything else in that department is great and we have two young kids with no extra support, so it's quite surprising we can't keep our hands off each other but may need to try new things. It's basically 2 positions each time with some foreplay.

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.

Naps

How is everyone doing for naps?

Little one is 9 months old and will have 2 half hour naps and one solid 1 hour - 2 hour nap a day

Then settles for night around 9pm. Wakes for a feed around 3:30 then sleeps until 6-7
