Jealous

I’m jealous of the mums who can put their babies to sleep easily in like an hour or less. I’m here each night spending 2-3 hours maybe even more putting my one down. Feels like I’m not doing it right 🫤

We come up to bed between 8/9, and baby will go in his crib between 11 and 12.
He cwtches, feeds, chats, cries, needs rocking, whatever beforehand.
Youre not doing anything wrong, promise x

You're not doing anything wrong at all, all babies are completely different and I'm sure there are things that you're doing with your baby that others wish they could do with theirs. Please don't be hard on yourself, you're doing an amazing job ❤️

I am one of those lucky ones but you are definitely not doing anything wrong. Babies are stubborn in different ways! There can be all sorts of reasons why baby won't go to sleep straight away. Leap phases, growth spurts.....we have just got through the 4 month sleep regression.

I don't know if you have a routine but the last feed entails nappy change, put her in her long sleeve vest and sleep sack, feed and then about half hour let her fall asleep and take her up to her crib. She seems to know what is happening by having a routine last thing.

This is a similar routine for us, only difference is I put our LG in her bed awake because that works better for her, but again they're all different 😀

Sounds like they're not ready for bed at the time you want them to be if it's taking three hours! Could you adjust the last nap to allow enough time to get tired again?

We cosleep and contact nap so I likely don't really know what I'm talking about with babies though. My eldest is a toddler and bedtime still takes an hour! Not sure I'd take advice from me 😆

@Kathryn it would be a whole world of pain if we put her in her crib awake! She definitely has FOMO 🤣

You are not alone, every day it takes 2-3 hrs to put my Lo to sleep, nappie change, she smiles and cries etc after bottle feed she goes to sleep, i dont know how long this gonna take but you are doing great job!

We're in the same boat. You're not doing anything wrong though, some babies just need more support getting to sleep!

Baby clothes

Just out of curiosity, why do parents love zipper onesies?

Don’t get me wrong, I tried zipper ones it’s easy to zip in and out when putting it on the first time and taking it out, but I find it difficult when changing diapers especially when baby is asleep.

I prefer those kimono style buttons where it’s easy to button or too down button with crotch snaps.

Is everyone thinking the same or different? Lol

Help

My LO every feed. Drs don’t seem to think it’s a problem the whole Muslim cloth gets soaked so much I’m using towels now. I’ve tried size O teats he gets really frustrated and still spills it out :(

Dummy

My baby has had a dummy since about 2 weeks old (now 5 months) and over the course of the last month we weaned her off it during the day only for naps and night (which was fine) and then 5 days took it completely away during the day.

The first day no dummy was fine, the second bit rougher. But now it feels impossible she just moans and cries all the time it takes ages for her to go down to sleep (she’s always been an amazing sleeper)

I thought it was meant to get better as time went on not worse. I’m at my wits end I dunno what to do.

Currently typing this as she screams uncontrollably in the car and I cry with her cos I can’t do anything.

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.

Is this normal?

My 12m old is really funny with kids going near him, he’s always been this way, but anytime family’s kids sit next to him or head his way he moans or cries and moves away. He also really observes them and is never really relaxed, always looking over his shoulder. Has anyone experienced this? (He’s starting nursery properly tomorrow so hoping this helps) but is this normal?

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅
