C section

Hi mamas,

I had an emergency c section 3 weeks ago and have been cleaning it daily with warm water and cotton balls however at my last midwife appointment my midwife told me she believes it is infected and to get some antibiotics from the doctors. I got these antibiotics and have been taking them for the last few days, the redness keeps going down but comes back again. I have this little bit on the cut where it is kind of flapping and that’s where all the gunk is coming out of.

Has anyone got any tips on what I can do to make sure this is extra clean and to help with this infection? I’m not entirely sure the antibiotics are 100% working so will be going back to my doctors to get something else but in the mean time I was wondering if anyone else experienced this and what they did to help it.

Thank you xx

I’m really sorry to hear this! I haven’t been doing anything with mine, just rinsing it with water in the shower and patting it dry with a clean towel. I’m wearing big pants that go over it to make sure that it’s not being irritated. I would definitely go back to your doctors if the antibiotics aren’t clearing it x

I have been wearing big underwear, I find it very hard to properly clean in the shower and so that’s why I continue to clean it every night again to make sure it is 100% clean. It’s so frustrating because I just want it to heal lol but yeah I will definitely be going back to doctors to get something else that will hopefully fully help it heal x

I was having to get my husband to lift up my bump when I was showering and then I’d hose it down!

I had the same and was given antibiotic cream which worked better xx

Use salt and warm water with a Cotten pad after the shower to clean It. Dry it with a hair dryer on the lowest setting to keep it dry. Twice a day. I did this both times after having a c section , no infection. Hope it helps xx

ahh great, I will ask for the cream instead of the tablets when I go next! X

I had a c section, I would shower and make sure I pat it dry/let it air dry. You don’t need to be cleaning it daily… maybe that’s what’s caused the infection?

Get your GP to take a swab next time so they can make sure it is the right antibiotics.

I would say maybe you are cleaning it too much. A wet wound cannot heal.
That "gunk" can actually be good gunk which is what secretes out to form the scabbing which as you then know the skin heals after.
All i do in the shower is rinse it with the head and then pat dry. Then i leave it until i shower again and its healed fine (5 weeks but by about 3 weeks).

The redness may be returning coz you are irritating it maybe 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m not sure if this is helpful but I dry mine with the hair dryer on cool to ensure it’s not at all damp after a shower before I get dressed as this can cause infection and prevent it healing well xx

Finding out gender

Has anyone found out the gender at a private scan at 14 weeks? And has this been accurate?

I found out at 17 with my first but I know a scan place that offers from 14/15 weeks and I’m impatient 😂🥲

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?

Baby names

My daughter‘s name is valentýna and I’m struggling to find other nice girl and boy names beginning with V I’ve got a few and I’ve got loads that aren’t beginning with V, but I feel like I wanna go for all vs and I also love girl and boys names that match so because my daughter’s name is valentýna I would love to call my son Valentino my husband does not agree 😃

Induction or c section?

As a last resort, would you rather be induced or have a planned c section?

Really not liking the thought of being induced from people’s experiences I’ve read!
